Nigeria Caught In Sony Playstation 299 Scam
THE new Sony advert for PlayStyation 3 has fallen foul of the good people of Nigeria, area code 419. In the ad, the Rumour Monger invites the corporate drone to confirm or deny the device’s low-low-low price of 299. Says the drone:
“You can’t believe everything you read on the Internet. Otherwise I’d be a Nigerian millionaire by now.”
Nigeria stirs.
The Minister of Information and Communication, Prof Dora Akunyili says:
“Nigeria remains a major investment destination and a country where most businesses thrive in trust, good faith, competence and integrity. Nigeria also demands an unconditional apology from Sony Corporation for this deliberate negative campaign against the country’s image and reputation. The apology must be given the same measure of publicity by Sony Corporation in all channels where the unfortunate adverts were aired. In the light of the above, the Federal Government of Nigeria requests Sony Corporation to immediately withdraw that advertisement from circulation.”
Sony agrees. And politely invites Professor Akunyili to prove his identity by standing on his head while resting a carp on his nose and singing the opening bars to Susan; Boyle’s Wild Horses.
Then he must send $7559.65 to a bank account in Burma to qualify for a compensation pay out of ten billion dollars.
Once this is done, all stereotypes will be rendered null and void in accordance with the wishes of the late Professor Hanka Panke, formerly head of international banking and macramé at the Lagos Institute of Agrarian Remunerations (LIAR).
