Maldon Mud Race: In Photos And Santa Hats

ANORAK was at the annual mud race in Maldon, Essex, looking on as over 200 runners and mud fetishists attempted to cross the mouth of the River Blackwater dressed in novelty Santa hats. It’s kinky. It’s Essex at low tide. Before racing the full 500 yards, you need to get a tetanus jab and tape your shoes to your feet. It’s a bit like being in Brixton Prison on slopping out day (so we are, er, told). The pictures:
