Banning The Periodic Vagina In Richard Adams’ River City And Tampon Adverts

by | 18th, March 2010

THE Guardian’s Richard Adams ended up defending himself from sexist accusations by his readers when he dared to dip his quill into the subject of feminine hygiene. He has a delightful blog pointing out the V-word is banned in US tampon ads.

There can be no direct naming of the vagina. No front bottom, minge, birth canal, pussy, beaver, Venus trouser trap, burning ring of fire, or the all-time classic ‘blossom full of nectar’. There are a few other descriptive nouns …but modesty forbids.

There was a hint of troubles in Richard’s personal River City, but he got the desired result – a great response.

One reader chuckle factor must have been the way the blog commentators managed to spin the whole subject around to erectile dysfunction.

Far from being a flaccid argument it was back to the old vagina v penis debate.

Oh dear, another hot blush
