Man Uses Homemade Police Car To Pull Over Woman Driver

by | 5th, August 2010

THE court calls Robert Connolly, 24. He is accused of converting his black Vauxhall Corsa to resemble an unmarked police car.

The vehicle, yer honour, is equipped with flashing blue lights, a loud siren and an onboard control panel in the roof.

Police say they saw Connolly pull over a woman motorist in Earlsdon, Coventry and give her a stern telling off.

Connolly admits to impersonating a police officer. He is sentenced to a 12 month community order and ordered to carry out 100 hours of community service. He is fined £85. His siren and flashing lights are confiscated.

Says Connolly:

It was done out of annoyance rather than anything else and without thinking I put the lights on. I managed to kit out the car because of my trade [he’s an electrician] but it had an isolation switch so I couldn’t use them on public roads… It was stupid.”

The advice is that if you want to pull people over because you don’t like the look of them you need to be proper copper. It takes training to be judgemental and patronising on demand…
