86-Year-Old Christian’s Plea Spares Cambridge Mum Who Head-Butted Her From Jail
MARY Holland, 86, was head-butted and punched by 34-year-old Danielle Wilks for asking one of Wilks’ two children to behave in a Sainsbury’s on Coldham’s Lane, Cambridge.
Wilks was unimpressed by the intervention. At Cambridge Crown Court, Wilks admits assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
She did not go to jail because Mrs Holland asked the court to offer “Christian forgiveness”.
Judge Gareth Hawkesworth calls Miss Holland’s attitude as “extraordinary”. He sentenced Wilks to a six-month prison term, suspended for 18 months, and ordered Wilks to pay her victim £750 compensation.
Says Holland:
“I’ve seen women in prison, which does them eternal harm. I have to say the judge acted very honourably.”
