Californian Shoots Escaped Zebra To Turn Into A Rug
THREE Zebras, remnants of William Randolph Hearst’s zoo, have been shot by Californians looking for a new rug.
The beasts usually graze not far from Highway 1 near San Simeon. But this month the three zebras escaped their enclosure. Two arrived at David Fiscalini’s cattle ranch. He shot them. A neighbouring rancher shot the other one.
Fiscalini said the zebras had “spooked his horses“. He then contacted a taxidermist to get one of the zebras skinned and its hide tanned.
Rosemary Anderson, the taxidermist’s wife, says:
“He wants to make a rug. You can’t believe the controversy.”
Oh, and the neighbour wants a rug too.
Next time a cat wanders onto your property, you know the drill. On the words “Mats!” fire at will…
