Hampshire School Bans Student For Looking Too Old

by | 19th, January 2011

THE Petersfield School, Hampshire, has suspended Prince Summerfield because they say he’s not 14. The school wants proof that he is 14.  They say he looks older. They say he’s 24 – “beyond secondary school age.”

He says he was born on September 24 1996.

So the school has sent him home until his age can be proved.

Prince’s mother, Ennettie hails from Malawi. She says that to get her boy into the country she had to provide DNA evidence. Says she:

“I was devastated and I thought that was not fair because I thought if they wanted to find any proof for my son they would just call me or send me a letter.”

Says the headmaster, one Nigel Poole:

“It is true that currently the school is attempting to clarify aspects of this young man’s background in order to comply with our robust child safeguarding policies. Until we can be reassured that he is actually 14, he is not attending the school.”

Unless the rugby team demands it…
