How The Media Fixed It For Ronan Parke To Be Famous: Britain’s Got Talent Fix Is A Fix

by | 4th, June 2011

DID you know that Simon Cowell “FEARS” a “REVOLT” over BGT claims that the show is fixed for Ronan Parke to win? The Mail says Cowell is scared.

The fix is based on claims made by one anonymous source on a single blog post.

Those are the claims countered by lots of anonymous sources talking to newspaper, Simon Cowell (“[it’s all] complete and utter lies”) and, ultimately, by young Parke himself:

“I have never met Simon in my life. I’d love to, but I never have. I have been coached by a singing teacher in Norwich that we pay for. No one’s paid for our clothes or anything. It’s really silly… It’s just stupid that they’re making up such lies.”

He then asked, “That alright, Mr Cowell, sir?”

No, not really. We’re only joking. Really. It’s a joke.

Oh, and as for the news that Cowell has called in the police, the Indy reprots:

Police sources indicated that there may not be a formal investigation into a complaint from Simon Cowell against an anonymous blogger who alleged that Ronan Parke, a 12-year-old boy contesting this evening’s Britain’s Got Talent television final, already had a management deal with Cowell’s company Syco and had been moulded to appeal to the audience – something Cowell denies.

The story has taken on a life of its own. Get this from Amanda Platell in the Mail:

Are those allegations that Britain’s Got Talent is rigged true? I have no  idea, though Simon Cowell vehemently insists the supposed whistleblower is a fake.

No idea? You must have an idea. The boy says it is a lie. Cowell says it  is a lie. And even if you believe Parke and Cowell are colluding in a plot, would his mum and dad be in on it, too? They also say it is a lie. Only one anonymous source says there is a conspiracy to defraud the public. Amanda, try to form an idea. It’s your job.

The result of all this chatter is that Parke is now a household name. Parke is presented as the victim of a “smear” campaign.

If he is a victim of anything, he is the patsy in a process that shows how easily someone can be defamed on the internet, and how willing sections of the great unwashed believe a conspiracy rules a TV format that flatters to deceive.

Young Ronan’s mum adds in the Star:

Last night his angry mum Maggie, 52, said: “The first we heard of it was when we got a phone call to say he’d got an audition.”

As for Cowell’s “Fear” of a “revolt”… Well, the story of a TV talent show is only on four national front pages – and Parke gets all the press coverage; all the over BGT contestants are ignored. (Conspiracy theorist, as you were).
