London Council Erects ‘Keep Off The Grass’ Sign On Tiny Patch Of Grass
GRASS is precious in Raynes Park, London. So precious is grass – so prized – that the local council has erected a sign commanding locals to “KEEP OF THE GRASS” – and stuck it on small patch of the stuff.
Says local man Resident Tom Beardmore:
“I would strongly debate why Merton Council felt the sign in Elm Walk was an appropriate use of resources.”
A council spokesman replies:
“Signs, similar to those erected in Elm Walk, are installed to remind motorists it is illegal to park on the footway and are designed to deter indiscriminate parking, which can damage the grass verge and be detrimental to the street scene.”
So. You interrupt the patch of precious grass with a metal pole and sign to keep the grass pure and maintain the harmony of the street scene.
It’s what Gaia would have wanted…
