How did she die?
Her spokesman says there were “no obvious signs of foul play and no obvious signs of a cause of death”.
TMZ speculates:
No illegal drugs have been found in the hotel room where Whitney Houston died — at least not yet — but prescription drugs were present, and it’s possible the singer drowned in the bathtub … TMZ has learned. Sources tell us … when EMTs arrived Whitney’s body was already removed from the bathtub so it will take an autopsy to determine if she OD’d, drowned or died from some other cause.

Legendary singer and film star Whitney Houston drowned alone in a bathtub after two back-to-back evenings of out-of-control binges, it has been claimed. The star was found dead by her bodyguard in a luxury hotel suite said to have been littered with bottles of prescription pills.
Maybe she was drowned in the bathtub by Mossad?
She did not drown:
“She was underwater and apparently unconscious,” Beverly Hills police said in a statement yesterday. “Ms Houston was pulled from the tub by members of her staff and hotel security was promptly notified.”
Was it the drugs war that dunnit?

Does prohibition – which demonstrably fails to keep illegal drugs out of the hands of people who want them – simply make it that much harder for people like Houston to admit and seek problems for their problems? Everyone knows that it’s no easy thing for addicts or problem users of anything to admit they need help. Does criminalizing the behavior on top of everything else make it that much harder to for such people to seek the help they need?
The night before
Whitney Houston “partied heavily” at the Beverly Hilton hotel with a group of friends … hotel staff tell TMZ.
“We’re told Whitney and her friends were in the bar for a time and the group was drinking and very loud. Our sources say even though the hotel is busy with all the Grammy festivities, Whitney and her group stood out because they were so boisterous” – TMZ

“Whitney Houston, the pop diva who had been plagued by addiction to crack cocaine in recent years has died aged 48, her publicist announced early today” – Times begins its tribute with those drugs.
The obituary
From a music dynasty, the daughter of the singer Cissy Houston was the golden girl of the music industry in the 1980s and 1990s and her record Whitney was the first album by a female artist to debut at No 1 on the Billboard charts. She was a cousin of Dionne Warwick and god-daughter to Aretha Franklin.
She leaves behind a daughter called Bobbi Kristina.
