Justin Bieber fans never fell for #baldforbiebers prank – but the media did
DID you shave your head for Justin Bieber in an act of solidarity with the cancer-stricken singer? The Entertainment Weekly’s Twitter feed told the world:
“Pop Star Justin Bieber was diagnosed with cancer earlier this morning. Bieber fans are shaving their heads to show their support.”
The world saw the photos of two apparent Bieber lovers with shaven heads.
Only, this was a 4chan joke. The picture was photoshopped. But this was Bieber so the story grew and the #baldforbeiber hashtag went nuts.
We have found no case of a Bieber fan shaving their bonce. This is a prank that failed to trick Bieber fans. Others, however, wer more easily duped.
Justin Green wrote on the Daily Beast:
I can’t even begin to describe this story, but apparently 4chan, Reddit’s red headed step-parent, pulled off history’s greatest troll. The fact that it was at the expense of Beliebers, or Justin Bieber super fans, makes it all the better.

So while it was a very nice gesture for Beliebers to shave their head for Justin, it appears they now are sporting a new do for cancer victims everywhere and not Justin Bieber.
In Bieber’s native Canada, the Vancouver Sun saw bald heads for Beiber:
Call it a tragic turn of events or a bald-faced lie. Rumours began circulating Thursday afternoon that Canadian pop star Justin Bieber had been diagnosed with cancer, prompting an outpouring of support from avid Beliebers – many of whom went as far as shaving their heads.
