Mitt Romney’s related (by marriage) to Preston North End’s Deepdale Duck
FACT: Mitt Romney’s fourth cousin twice removed is Maria Nash, 32. Her husband, Simon Nash, earns a living as Deepdale Duck, the mascot of Preston North End Football Club.
True enough, Simon Nash is seven degrees separated from Mitt Ronmey, and may be more closely related to Kevin Bacon. But Kevin Bacon never was much of a football mascot.
Still, the Times wants us to know what Simon Nash thinks of US politics. He obliges the paper:
“I think the world will be a very different place if he [Romney] does get in. He belongs to the flog ’em and hang ’em brigade. I’ll be watching the TV and shout, ‘Maria, he’s dropped another one! You’ll never guess what he’s said!’ Like when he criticised the London Olympics, or when he said 47 per cent of the American population were scroungers.”
Adding:
“He doesn’t even drink tea or coffee. And I like a pint — he doesn’t.”
