Savile, Glitter, Starr, Rossiter, Phantom Flan Flinger and Tory in New BBC Show Witch Hunt
THE “New“ Sunday Herald leads with a wanter poster-style front page. Readers see a front page divided into a macabre version of Celebrity Squares. In the frames are:
Jimmy Savile (dead): alleged paedophile who fixed it for young girls and boys to be sexually molested and single-handedly ruined the small business in Jimmy Savile impersonators.
Gary Glitter: convicted paedophile alleged to have sex with a underage girl in Jimmy Savile’s BBC dressing room. He single-handedly ruined the small business in Gary Glitter impersonators.
Freddie Starr: aged entertainer who “ate my hamster”. Denies being paedo. Did wonders for business in Adolf Hitler impersonators.
Leonard Rossiter (dead): actor who played sleazy slum landlord accused of watching a male actor get attacked in the 1960s. The alleged victim says Rossiter Damp “performed a sex act beside him during the attack”.
Silhouette of a male head. Believed to be: a) The Phantom Flan Flinger (Tiswas); an IRA terrorist (NBC News – 1970s); c) someone from an IPod advert
Question Mark. The Riddler. Batman’s arch nemesis.
The Silhouette or the question mark might be a Tory politician. Steven Messham says he was sexually abused in North Wales care homes. Messham told BBC’s Newsnight show that he was raped by a Tory politician:
“We were taken by car, where basically we were just sexually abused. Various things would happen, drink would be involved. It was basically rape. But there wouldn’t be just him (the Tory politician), others would be involved as well.”
The paper is inviting its readers to play along in a guessing game. It looks a lot like a witch hunt. Maybe the BBC take option it a new game show. Add a few staff members, and it’s cheap and in the public good…
