Dad cuts open family dog’s stomach to retrieve son’s finger
SADLY, medics in Tampa Bay, Florida, have not been able to reattach Fernando Brignoni’s finger. The 11-year-old’s finger was bitten off and eaten by the family dog, Sassy, a malamute-wolf.
Fernando’s father, Luis Brignoni, supplied the digit, having shot Sassy and cut open her stomach to retrieve the lad’s finger.
Says the boy:
“I was petting my dog then she turned around and just started biting my hand.”
Says Luis:
“To me it wasn’t only losing my son’s finger it was also basically losing a family member. And it was just really tough. But my son comes before any animal, and at that moment it was just like, get it now or it’s gone.”
The family have two other dogs. Fernando has nine other fingers, for now. And it’s sausages for dinner.
