Pink Flamingo couple wear matching clothes for 35 years (photos)
LOVE is… Donald Featherstone and his wife Nancy have been wearing matching outfits for the past 35 years.
Don is also noteworthy for inventing the Pink Flamingo Lawn, for which he won the Ig Nobel Prize for Art in 1996. Estimates put the number of sold pink flamingo lawn ornaments at 20 million.
The 1957 Sears sold of the bird retailing at $2.76 a pair: “Place in garden, lawn, to beautify landscape.”
But he once said of his invention:
“I always said if you put six of them around a tractor tire painted red, white, and blue and put petunias in it, in front of a nice house, it looks pretty tacky.”
If you can get an orignal pink flamingo, good luck. Union Products, shut down the factory in Leominster, Mass. in 2006.
