THE Daily Bale: Anorak’s daily looks at the life of Tottenham star Gareth Bale in the news. Today’s focus is on a Real Madrid star trying to tap up the Welshman. Luka Modric, formerly of Spurs and now with Real, tells Marca:

“Since Madrid is the team of the galaxy, Bale would fit perfectly, we could really use him. He would give the team another dimension. His shot, his strength, his speed, his offensive power. He is the type of player who will help us take a step forward.”

Well, that’s the Daily Express’ translation of what Modric said. In the intergalactic football tournament, this entire Galaxy will be represented by managerless Real Madrid. This is tough cheese for the LA Galaxy, who have invested much in branding this sector of the soccer universe.

Modric adds:

“It is a complicated issue for me because I was with Tottenham. I can tell you we’re friends and he is an exceptional player. I guarantee it. And whether the club is Real Madrid, Tottenham or another, they can only win if they sign a player like that. If it is Real Madrid, it’s better for us.”

So. Bale’s a good player. Who knew apart from Luka?

In other news, the Metro newspaper has produced “Six reasons why Gareth Bale will still be at Tottenham next season“. That follows the paper’s scoop “Six reasons Bale won’t be at Spurs next season”. It’s the kind of inside knowledge that only experts in the media can deliver.

Such are the facts…
