Spurs and Newcastle United legend Gazza joins Twitter and everyone prays it won’t be a car wreck

EVERYONE loves Paul Gascoigne. He was supremely talented but a wreck of a human. He’s brings out the older sibling in us all, where we want to cuddle him and fix him, fearful that he’s going about his life in a fashion which suggest he’s not long for this Earth.
In his first tweet, shown above, you can see that he’s hoping to show the world “the real Gazza”, and by god, we can only hope it’s a prettier picture than the one in our heads and hearts.
Gazza’s very public battle with alcoholism is one of the most troubling and depressing sights in football. A man who was so funny, so gifted, refused to a trembling and tortured soul.
He’s admitted to being more than four times over the drink-drive limit and was given an eight-week suspended sentence and his agent recently spoke of Gascoigne’s relapse and that he may be beyond hope.
In February 2008, he was sectioned under the Mental Health Act after acting strangely at a hotel in Newcastle and in 2010 he appeared at the scene of a police stand-off with gunman Raoul Moat.
Gascoigne was also placed in intensive care in the US getting financial support from friends Chris Evans and former England cricketer Ronnie Irani.
We can only hope that we see a glimmer of that old, vibrant Gazza online and that, with some support from his fans and admirers, he can get back on track.
