The Gory Passion Reenactment In The Village of Nicker in Co Limerick – Photos
TO a Passion reenactment in the village of Nicker in Co Limerick, on Good Friday, as part of the Limerick City of Culture celebrations. Jesus is played by Garry Frahe, who has been getting into character:
“The physical pain is not in anyway going to bother me. It is the emotion I want to get across. There are sequences when I will feel it. We don’t want to cheat on any aspect, we don’t want to cheat the audience.”
Real nails? A circumcised Jesus? Where does the authenticity end?
“There will be physical pain but it won’t be horrific pain. The production team have taken every aspect into account. The have spent hours thinking, assessing and trying to make things as safe as possible but to keep it as real as possible.”
Words to heed for anyone planning to stage The Passion in their garden or school playground. A real Crucifixion is a safe Crucifixion.
