Paige Chivers: Looking For A Body In Bispham, Lancashire
FINALLY. They are looking for Paige Chivers. Police are searching for her body in Bispham, Lancashire.
Paige was last seen in Blackpool in August 2007.
For years police ignored appeals to find her. She was just another poor, white girl. Then they got interested. The talk turned to paedophile gangs, and how police had let down poor, white girls, like Paige and Charlene Downes, failing them with incompetence and lies.
Operation Yewtree into cases of historical sex abuse was on the agenda. The police became the story. What did they know? Who had they let down? Who had they let off?
A £30,000 reward was offered for information on the missing 15-year-old.
But police have no body. No-one has been arrested. It’s a hunch.
Says Det Supt Andy Webster:
“While we are keeping an open mind about what we may find, if anything, at this site we do believe the information we have received is genuine and we are treating it seriously. Our primary objective remains to identify Paige’s killer or killers and recover her body so her family can lay her to rest.”
The BBC adds:
Her father Frank, 49, was murdered at his home in Layton last year.
Sean Conlon, 44, was convicted of his murder and jailed for a minimum of 15 years in January.
Such are the facts…
