Transfer Balls: Arsenal Buy Benzema On A Wenger Whisper
THE Daily Star’s Colin Harvey says “Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger drops MASSIVE hint about imminent Karim Benzema bid”.
Because if there is one thing we know about Wenger it is that always hints about players he is going to buy. This is the man who told us:
“I read some transfer rumours in the newspapers and they are all wrong. All of them. So you do not even need to ask me one name – they are all wrong.”
And this is the Star that told its readers:
Arsene Wenger will LEAVE Arsenal after FA Cup final with Hull
But still Harvey ploughs on, creating a transfer scoop to deadline:
ARSENAL manager Arsene Wenger has dropped a HUGE hint he wants to sign Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema – and that a bid could be imminent. The French manager was commentating on the Champions League final last night and said a couple of interesting things about the striker.
That’s Wenger who has made approaches to buy the French striker in the last two summers. As the Standard reported in August 2013:
It is understood the Gunners have sounded out the Spanish giants over a move for the 25-year-old and have indicated they would be prepared to offer £40million.
Having told us that Wenger told French TV viewers that Benzema could play in the Premier League one day, Harvey ends his article with the line:
With the Emirates paid for and another year of Champions League successfully in the bag, will Wenger be tempted to splash the cash and invest heavily in his squad again?
Answer: Yes.
But look out for hacks repeating that question over and over until Wenger surprises them all with a new signing none of them saw coming (see Ozil).
PS: As Harvey listens to coded messages, he misses the facts. He writes:
The Gunners are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements with the controversial Nicklas Bendtner set to leave
The Danish megastar has already been released.
