Manchester United Balls: Luke Shaw Loses £6m And Plays For His Old School
MANCHESTER United Balls: Luke Shaw is the most expensive teenager in football history, having joined Manchester United from Southampton for… Well, how much?
Let’s look at the facts, as reporting by the mainstream media. It’s Trasnfer Balls:
The Times: £27 million.
The paper adds that if success comes his way, the free could rise to £29m
The Telegraph: £30m. (Wage: £100,000 a week)
Daily Mail: £31.5m
The Mail says United failed to land Shaw with a bid of £27m. It’s a four-year contract.
Daily Express: £33m
And now he’s on a five-year contract.
So much for the facts.
As for Shaw, 18, he’s delighted, telling media, “I can’t believe it’s happened. United is the biggest club in the world and will always be up there with the best. The main reason I came here was because they want to win trophies. As a young lad, when I was growing up, I wanted to be winning trophies and coming to Manchester United; that’s the one thing they like to do.”
He had a parting word for Southampton: “I’ve been there since I was 8 and they’ve treated me and my family with such great respect. There will always be a place in my heart for Southampton. I will miss it a lot.”
Kids, eh. You raise them and they flee the nest the first chance they get:
