Transfer Balls: Manchester United Chase Arturo Vidal To Fredy Guarin’s House
IS Aturo Vidal heading to Manchcester United? They certainly need a dynamic box-to-box player. And Vidal is just that sort of footballer. But United haven’t said a word about pursuing Vidal. They did, however, comment on reports linking them with failed bids for Bayern Munich’s Thomas Müller and his German compariot Marco Reus.
In the official silence, the media has been making lots of noise about the Juventus player. The papers have shoved United in Vidal’s mouth and repeatedly linked him with move to United.
Yesterday, the Daily Mirror said Vidal was wanted at Old Trafford:
The Red Devils continue in their pursuit of new players but Louis van Gaal is running out of time with the transfer clock counting down
Readers are told that Vidal is “fully fit”. And:
Manchester United have been cleared to pursue Arturo Vidal after Juventus claimed he is fit.
Great news for United fans. It’s full steam ahead to capture Vidal. After all, United were concerned over Vidal’s fitness:
Vidal’s national team manager told the Chilean newspaper El Mercurio: “United want Vidal but Van Gaal has doubts.Vidal was a great example during the World Cup in Brazil of not playing in the best of conditions. Manchester United want him, but what restrains his move to England for $80million is Van Gaal, who has doubts over his [knee] condition.”
But the Star has different news:
Rhys Turrell writes:
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Marotta ruled out any chance to Vidal leaving Turin this summer. “We have no ongoing negotiations, nor have had requests the player to leave,” he said. “Vidal has always said he wanted to stay here and we are more than happy to keep him.”
And Juventus coach Max Allegri says:
“The club was very clear on the fact we won’t be losing any players and I am very happy about that.”
Odd. Because the IBTimes said Vidal had joined United for £40m. The Star said United had given Vidal the Number 7 shirt. The Star stated: “Arturo Vidal AGREES five-year deal to join Manchester United.”
If not Vidal, then who? The Express knows. (And that’s the Express who told readers the Vidal deal was “certain” to happen). United are looking to buy Inter Milan’s Fredy Guarin.
