Faces of 1971: GIs Ed Norris And Bob Dickey Smnoke Marijuana In Saigon
WHAT did you do in the war, daddy? Well, son, I got very, very stoned:
Ed Norris, rear, and Bob Dickey, GIs who freely admit they smoke marijuana and thus are known as “heads” in the Army subculture, show peace signs in Saigon, April 22, 1971. The two soldier circulated a petition in their unit supporting President Nixon’s invasions of Cambodia and Laos and his Vietnamization program. Their petition was in reply to an advertisement in the New York Times carrying the names of 49 GIs who urged participation in an anti-war rally in Washington. (AP Photo/Jim Bourdier)
