Transfer Balls: Arsenal outbid Real Madrid for Sergio Ramos as Manchester get Paulista
Transfer Balls: a look at mainstream media reporting on football transfers.
The Daily Telegraph has news on Sergio Ramos:
Arsenal transfer news and rumours: Arsenal Wenger handed boost in hunt for Real defender Sergio Ramos
He has? The media is full of news that Arsenal are buying central defender Gabriel Paulista for £6m (Metro), £10m (Telegraph) and £15m (Guardian). So. Why would they buy Ramos, too?
And Arsenal are not alone. Just yesterday the Daily Star reported:
Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd target Sergio Ramos CLOSE to agreeing HUGE deal
But why would Manchester United wants Ramos. The Star also reported that they want Paulista:
The Telegraph’s story continues:
Arsenal have been given a huge boost in their hunt for Sergio Ramos, reports The Metro.
So. Over to the Metro:
Arsenal have been given a huge boost in the hunt for Sergio Ramos – after he angrily rejected Real Madrid’s latest contract offer.
Ramos, who was subject of an approach from Arsenal earlier this month, has been in talks over a new deal to stay at Madrid. But reports say he’s angrily rejected fresh terms this week, with Real refusing to give him a big pay rise, and the news has alerted the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger is after a new centre back, and while Gabriel Paulista looks set to arrive, the Frenchman has not ruled out making further signings. Ramos has also been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United.
So. Ramos, who reportedly earns around £100,000 a week wants more cash. And Arsenal will pay it? Well, The Metro says they did make a bid for the Spaniard:
Arsenal have reportedly held talks with the agent of Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos amid speculation the defender is ready to walk out on the European champions.
The Metro reported the report. But what is the source?
Ramos has recently turned down the offer of a new two-year contract extension at Madrid, and Chelsea have been linked with a swoop for him in January.
So. Real Madrid offered Ramos a deal. But he wanted better terms. And then Arsenal made an offer?
But Arsenal now look to be the front runners in any potential deal, with respected AS reporter Manuel Esteban Manolete revealing the Gunners have made contact with the centre back’s agent.
‘Wenger has called Rene Ramos, the agent and brother of Sergio Ramos,’ he explained to La Goleada.
The source of the story is the agent of the player who wants a better contract.
Such are the facts.
