Manchester City Balls: Guardiola’s tabloid journey takes him to Manchester United
Is Pep Guardiola heading to become the next manager of Manchester City? The Sun has been relating the story.
On Friday May 8, curent Manchester City boss Manuel Pelligrini was “sweating”. He would learn his fate when he meets the club owners later this month.
By May 11, Pelligrini was “cool”.
The Sun said Bayern Munich’s Guardiola have been “heavily linked” with the Manchester City job. You might have hard the rumours in such stories in the Sun as “PEP GUARDIOLA has turned up the heat on Roberto Mancini by opening the door for a summer switch to Manchester City”. That was before Pelligrini arrived at City. And ever since he did, unchecked by the facts, the rumours have continued.
And so to today’s news that Pelligrini has been “told he stays”. Looks like that sweaty meeting in Abu Dhabi was put forward.
So. The fact is that Pelligrini is staying. The Sun has the scoop. Or not. Because the story is about as decisive as a Nigel Farage resignation letter. And let’s marvel at how the Sun can read Pelligrini’s mind:
If only there were a shred of fact we could cling on to. If only the Sun had read what Pep Guardiola said yesterday:
“I’ve already said 200 million times – I’ll be here [Bayern Munich] next season. That’s it.”
Or as the Sun says:
PEP GUARDIOLA wants to manage Manchester United when he leaves Bayern Munich.
Maybe…
