Transfer Balls: Manchester United agree to buy Chelsea’s Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia
Transfer Balls – a look at dire football reporting. The Daily Express says Manchester United have “BID” for Nicolas Otamendi.
The story of the Valencia player begins:
Manchester United are readying a £35million bid to sign Nicolas Otamendi, according to the Daily Mirror.
To the Mirror, then, where David Anderson has news:
We learn:
Otamendi is understood to have told Valencia of his desire to leave, with the Spanish club determined to receive their full valuation for the centre-back.
Valencia President Amadeo Salvo is quoted:
“Valencia do not give in to pressure from any agent or any comments. Valencia’s position will always be the same. If Otamendi wants to leave he will have to say it publicly. If he wants to go he will have to come to the club, not an agent, and pay what the club decide he is worth, which is €50 million at least, and with the payment structure that Valencia decide.”
Bit odd, then, that the Metro reported on May 20 that Otamendi had alreay agreed to join United:
That story was rooted Ole, a newspaper in Otamendi’s native Argentina. It says that there is no agreement between Valenica and Manchester United.
But all this is immaterial because as the Daily Express told us in 2013, Otamendi plays for Chelsea:
Such are the facts…
