Burnley Transsexual Fights For ‘Luxury Boobs’ On The NHS

TO Burnley, where Cathy Ann Daniels, 57, formerly Keith Stanstead Daniels, is refused a breast operation on the NHS. He says the ruling has left her “half man, half woman”.

It’s been 18 months since the ‘father’ of three had a £60,000 sex change in London. Now she wants the £5,000 breast operation on the NHS. But her GP won’t refer her. Why? Because under the local rules, breast augmentation is classed as a “cosmetic procedure”. This seems to imply that breasts are not necessary to being woman. However, East Lancs NHS does offer breast reconstruction following mastectomy for patients who have had breast cancer.

One commentator on the Lancashire Telegraph’s site notes, wonderfully:

He/she could afford the other private surgery. Save up like the rest of us do for luxury boobs…

Says Daniels:

“I have been left half man, half woman because my doctor will not refer me to the PCT [Primary Care Trust] for breast augmentation. I have undergone half the operation, but now I’m being kept in limbo because apparently there is no funds. Breasts are a really important part of being a woman and being like this is making me suicidal. It’s horrible. I’m neither one or the other. My lower half is a woman but my top half is a man.”

Michelle Bridgman, of the Gender Society, tells the Lancashire Evening Post:

“This has always been a geographic lottery. Some PCTs will fund and some simply will not.”

Before a quick investigation, know that:

“When I was 13, I had a female friend who was helping the army cadets run a jumble sale. She dared me to put on a swimming costume and I did. From that moment all doubts went out of the window.”

Texas Bans The Last Supper For Those Destined To Die: Making A Saint Of Troy Davis

PEOPLE being put to death by the State of Texas will no longer get a last meal.

Texan Senator John Whitmire, a Democrat and chair of the state Senate Criminal Justice Committee, was unimpressed by those final eats:

“Enough is enough. It is extremely inappropriate to give a person sentenced to death such a privilege. It’s a privilege which the perpetrator did not provide to their victim.”

Dale Farm Totty Watch: Serena McCarthy and Shannon McCarthy Are Stars

DALE Farm has been notable for two things? Not Kathleen McCarthy, spokeswoman for the non-travelling travellers. Not Vanessa Redgrave, giving the cause a celebrity. Not the green belt snobs talking about eco rights. Not the self-styled righteous looking to validate themselves with a campaign to help the ‘little people’. No. The stars of the Dale Farm saga are Serena McCarthy and Shannon McCarthy, two young blondes who have taken to posing for photos at the head of the movement. What next for them? A spot on next summer’s Big Brother? A recording contract? A date with Prince Harry? GCSEs and A-levels..?

Dale Farm: Travellers Become A Pet Cause For Right-On Left Wingers Looking For Validation

DALE Farm: Anorak’s looks at the story in the news media:

The matter has reached the Royal Courts of Justice.

ThisIsLondon:

The comedian who threw a foam pie at Rupert Murdoch has called on anarchists to descend on Dale Farm traveller site to stop bailiffs evicting its residents. Jonnie Marbles urged protesters to visit the site in Basildon ahead of a High Court verdict due today.

Because what the travellers need more than anything is a law-breaker to fight their corner.

The 26-year-old spent two weeks in Wandsworth prison after thrusting a foam pie in Mr Murdoch’s face as the tycoon gave evidence at a Commons hearing on phone hacking in July. He is one of about 100 activists camping at Dale Farm. Blogging on his website, Anarch*ish*, he said they were having an “awesome” time sitting around the campfire, chatting and getting “a little tipsy”.

Pity the travellers patronised as a fashionable cause by such fools.

Nicholas Cage’s Hair Is Proof That Vampires Exist: Photos

NICHOLAS Cage has been outed by an eBay user named Jack Mord, an “antique image dealer” who has a photo from 1870 of man who looks like the slack-jawed actor.

Indeed, the seller of the photograph says Cage is so much like the man in the picture he must be the one and same, sensibly concluding that the actor is a vampire who can life forever.

Ingenioulsy Cage has poo-pooed the truth by pretending to lose his hair by skilled and painful plucking. But eventually Cage tired of this routine and left his flowing lock to return.

The Anti-Sex Trafficking Adverts Are Like A Sex Trafficker Road Show

THE advert states that last year 200,000 girls in south east Asia were tricked into the sex trade. A group called Traffick Lights wants it to stop. And to do it they will raise awareness with a series of adverts. But, as Copyranter says, “they would make good posters for a sex trafficker trade show.”

They are an utter failure… (click to make ’em grow)….

Daily Mail’s Pornographic Mind Pollutes Cardiff By Night: Photos Of Life Being Lived

uk-state-32

Image 1 of 23

CADIFF After Dark is a collection of photographs by Maciej Dakowicz. He’s a Polish photographer who lived in Cardiff for five years.

He says:

‘Welsh people are very friendly and open. The atmosphere is very cheerful and everyone is having a good time.”

His photographs are on show at the International Festival of Photojournalism Perpignan, France.

To the untrained eye the photos show a lively cityscape. There is warmth in the photographer’s eye and love of his subject matter. But to the Daily Mail’s Robert Hardman they “look like images you might find in some depressing police dossier“.

Hysteria Surrounds Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Shared Vibrators (Video)

ANORAK is used to actors getting into the role. So. Here’s Maggie Gyllenhaal talking about getting into the part (surely the part getting into her? – Ed) for Hysteria, a film tracing the invention of the vibrator:

“By the time I finished the movie I’d been sent maybe 15 vibrators by different people in London with vibrator stores. It was a pleasant surprise. So I have this incredible collection, and I actually use like one or two of them. I lend them to my friends, and they’ll take them for six months at a time.”

Ignorant Media Experts Slam Lancashire Child Cage Fighting Ring: It’s Not Child Abuse – It’s Sport

THE Lancashire Evening Post’s children cage fighting story has gone national. The press sets about monstering the adults and pitying the children. The front page of the Daily Mirror yells:

CAGE OF INNOCENTS

The teaser oozes:

“Boozing, baying fight fans pay £25 a ticket to watch two boys just 8 & 9 slug it out”

Well. It’s true. Sort of.

Our review of the story is hereunder. But before it, let’s look at the version of the event that has hit the news cycle:

The Mirror:

Sick! Cage fighting for kids is slammed by experts as “barbaric”

Steve White is in poetic mood:

HE is fighting under the name of Lucas The Bone Breaker. But at just 4ft 2in, the ashen-faced eight-year-old hardly seems to measure up to his fearsome title. Suddenly his bottom lip begins to quiver and he bursts out crying after slumping to the canvas with a leg injury.

Who Is Cheryl Cole’s Soldier Lover?

JOIN the armed forces and win a chance to shag Cheryl Cole, Vera Lynn never made such an offer to Our Boys (and Girls), and her career is less starry for it.

The Daily Mirror continues to publicise its mawkish Pride of Britain Awards with Cheryl’s brave trip to Afghanistan.

Cheryl would have been braver had she visited Afghanistan as a holidaymaker, keen to show the world that beyond the bombs and the militants, the place has a few nice spots, a half-decent spa, hunky fellas and real people who actually live there.

Instead we get news that Chezza has pulled:

Cheryl has returned from Afghanistan with a twinkle in her eye – after taking a shine to a hunky British soldier.

Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger Resigns Himself To The Sun’s Biased Reporting

THE Sun sees Arsenal defeat Shrewsbury Town 3-1 in the League Cup and thunders:

Arsene Wenger fumes at Arsenal vote of confidence

The paper illustrates its story with a photo of a man sat amid a row of empy seats. In all, 46, 539 fans came to watch the mid-week match between the Gunners reserves and the League 2 team. That is the lowest ever crowd at the Emirates.

But to offer context, on the same night:

7,104 people went to see Blackburn Rovers play Leyton Orient
7,749 saw Wolves play Milwall
And 15,023 saw Stoke play Spurs.

Dale Farm: Dirty Gypsies Are Jewish Settlers Occupying Luton

DALE Farm: Anorak’s at-a-glance look at the non-travelling Essex travellers in the news:

The Sun: “Dale Farm gypsies start up ‘illegal’ new site”

A neighbour said: “I used to look out of my bedroom window and see a beautiful park. Now it’s caravans. I’m sure the gypsies won’t cause trouble. Let’s hope it stays that way.”

No trouble, then. But good of the Sun to feature a quote that there might be.

Daily Mail:

Caravans from Dale Farm travellers’ site have upped sticks and set up an illegal camp 55 miles away leading residents to fear that many more are on their way.

Fear?

Around 20 families have moved from Essex to Stockwood Park, close to Luton in Bedfordshire, after gaining access to a 100 hectare piece of land. Those who stayed at Dale Farm, where travellers have been in a 10-year battle with Basildon Council, were given a last-minute reprieve from the High Court after a judge ruled that the proposed measures ‘may go further’ than the terms of the enforcement notices.

One of the travellers at the site said there were another 40 caravans on their way as people in Luton feared there would be a similar situation to that in Essex.

Egypt: A Gallery Of Those Home-Made Helmets

WHAT is the defining image of the protests against Egypt’s President Mubarak? It is the photos of the Christians and Muslims united for their country? Is it the photos of the camel rider breaking heads in Tahrir Square? Is it the broken heads? The marketing? What about the protest signs? And can anyone forget Glenn Beck’s magnets? Or is it one of these photos of the homemade helmets worn by anti-Mubarak campaigners?

Drunk Kerry Katona Sups OK!’s ‘Celebrity Juice’ And Swallows Lucien Laviscount

KERRY Katona and Lucien Laviscount continue with their fluid post-Big Brother romance on the cover of OK! magazine. The pair are fighting for love in the face of overwhelming odds – colour prejudice (she’s orange); age (he’s not much old than her kidzzzzz); incest (they describe themselves as being like brother and sister); and the cruelest barrier of all: they aren’t dating.

And yet OK! continues to make pronouncements:

“WORLD EXCLUSIVE – ‘WE LOVE WAKING UP TOGETHER'”

The Times Comprehensive Atlas of The World Rediscovers Warming Island To Please The Guardian’s Anti-Science Agenda

IS the latest edition of the Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World incorrect? Greland is reduced in size by 15%. A news island is included in the atlas. Treehugger reports:

Uunartoq Qeqertaq is the world’s newest island: translated from Inuit as “Warming Island,” it was attached to a Greenland peninsula as recently as 2002. But Arctic ice began melting with increasing speed, and Uunartoq Qeqertaq was discovered as its own island in 2005. Scientists say the island exists directly because of climate change—and it is now officially included in the latest edition of the Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World.

The Guardian says this is down to…global warming:

In Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World, Greenland has lost around 15% of its ice cover between 10th edition (1999) (left) and 13th edition (2011) (right). Photograph: Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World. If you have never heard of Uunartoq Qeqertaq, it’s possibly because it’s one of the world’s newest islands, appearing in 2006 off the east coast ofGreenland, 340 miles north of the Arctic circle when the ice retreated because of global warming. This Thursday the new land – translated from Inuit as Warming Island – was deemed permanent enough by map-makers to be included in a new edition of the most comprehensive atlas in the world…

“We’re hoping to reach a whole new audience of people, some of whom will be shocked by graphic images that maybe they didn’t anticipate seeing when they went to the PETA triple-X site.”

The Dale Farm Eviction Live Blog: The Travellers’ Last Stand

DALE Farm Live Blog: The forcible eviction of the non-moving travellers from Crays Hill, Essex. It’s the biggest travellers’ site in Europe. (Previously.)

September 20 2011:

Only the Daily Mail leads with the story of Dale Farm:

“FIASCO DOWN ON EVICTION FARM”

The feeling is that this is front-page news because the travellers’ have detailed two young blonde women to jump for joy in front of the cameras, much like A-level students celebrating their exam success.

Mr Justice Edwards-Stuart ruled at the High Court in London that the proposed measures ‘may go further’ than the terms of the enforcement notices.

The Mail sees anarchists:

Instead, the rag-tag mix of professional activists, benefit claimants and students had just one thing on their minds: Anarchy. Indeed, a slogan crudely written in blue paint on a wicker fence which surrounds the protesters’ headquarters aptly sums up their feelings. It reads: ‘Vandalism: beautiful as a rock in a bailiff’s face’.

The Mail also sees justice:

One, who gave her name as Mary, said: ‘Thank God for British justice.’

Simon Heffer clacks his marmalde-coated tongue:

Part of the bedrock of our country and our way of life is a belief in the rule of law, and in its equal application. If it is not seen to be applied equally then confidence in it will erode: as will confidence in any politician who allows the rule of law to be debauched in this way. The police must vigorously support a council doing its legal duty: failure to do so will provoke others to wonder why they have to respect planning laws – and indeed, laws on things other than planning.

This is what is really at stake at Dale Farm. We saw in last month’s riots that a significant number of people see no reason to live within the law. Letting Dale Farm carry on regardless would simply encourage more to take that view. And then, what price anarchy?

September 19 2011:
