The New York Post ‘Raped’ ‘Innocent’ Frog Dominique Strauss-Kahn But Ignored Murdoch’s ‘Chez Perv’
NEWS is that Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former head of the IMF, might be innocent. News is that the man who caused the New York Post to thunder “FROG LEGS IT” and yell “CHEZ PERV” might not be guilty.
The media reports that the woman who says the French politico tried to rape her might not be telling the truth. Well, quite. The case has yet to be heard and tried. Mr Strauss-Khan is on bail in New York. Strauss-Kahn has been charged with seven counts including attempted rape, sexual abuse and unlawful imprisonment. He might have done it. He might not have done it. Guilt should not be presumed.

The J30 Strike Kept The Media Working Hard: Everything Else Just Worked The Same
HOW did the J30 public sector workers’ strike over pensions go? The media reports on what was either a grand day out or a blow for justice, depending on your prejudices:
The Times (front page): “First strike fails to spa”
One of the largest strikes in a generation by hundreds of thousands of teachers and civil servants had “minimal impact” on public services, despite the closure of more than 7,000 schools, No 10 said yesterday.
Up to 300,000 teachers and at least 100,000 civil servants walked out in protest over “unfair and unjust” changes to their pensions. But with little disruption to airports, Jobcentres, or courts the action was dismissed as a damp squib by a Downing Street source…
The Guardian (front page): “A text book lesson in protest and Miss and Sir chalk up a respectable result”
Anyone want to talk to the press…? Yes, You sir:
Doctoral student Harry Pitts, 24, one of the last self-proclaimed Marxists in the Labour party, had come from Falmouth where his father works in the docks and his mother teaches. The government’s attack “is probably a way of breaking down people’s sense of vocation within the current capitalist mode of production, preparing us to be more pliant and amenable to bursts of temporary work or call centre jobs”, he said.
Stick that into a chant and he’s got a winner.

Petra Ecclestone And James Stunt Are At Home In Hello! – Belgravia, LA And An Interview To Cherish
PETRA Ecclestone wants to show off the things she keeps in her Belgravia mansion. She’s talking to Tamara Beckwith, who lives in the area. Having saved a few quid on travel costs, Hello! settles down to meet the daughter of Bernie Ecclestone and sister to Tamara Ecclestone, who was only recently showing us her things in her massive Chelsea house.
Petra is sat on a deep sofa with her lover, a “privately wealthy” man called James Stunt. He’s 26. He has a name to conjure with. He appears to have stopped off on his way to a 1980s fancy dress party. James is possibly going to that do as a hateful Thatcherite estate agent whose been poured into a suit and forgotten to sway “when”.
Petra, of course, was recently in the news on account of her mother’s decision to spend $150 of her $734m divorce settlement from Bernie on Aaron Spelling’s 123-bedroom cottage in Los Angeles.
Says Tamara:
“Petra is far from what you might imagine a spoilt little rich girl should be.”

Johann Hari’s Plagiarism Confession Will Make Him A Media Darling
SOMEONE called Johann Hari, a columnist on the UK Independent and a gadabout for various other up-there publications, has confessed to lifting quotes to beef up his celebrity interviews. If his star subject is not making much sense, Hari will pinch a better quote on the point-in-hand, truffled from the written work of the interviewee (uncredited), and pass it off as part of his own splendid cross-exam. Naughty!
Blogger scorn and fainting have greeted this confession: why, it’s even trending on Twitter as I write.

Aged Princess Diana Appears With Duchess Catherine On Newsweek’s Magazine Cover: Photos
QUEEN of our hearts, Princess Diana, appears on the latest issue of Newsweek, photoshopped together with Duchess Catherine. That’d be Kate Middleton to you, who is waltzing around with one of Diana’s rings on. Anyway, the thought of the two together isn’t that strange as Diana would’ve been Middleton’s mother-in-law had she not careered into the inside of a Paris tunnel.
However, what is causing a kerfuffle is the fact that Newsweek have ‘shopped Diana’s image so it looks old. It would appear that whoever did the hatchet job hasn’t ever seen a 50 year old woman before, making Diana look like a regal Mumm-Ra.

WASN’T Beyonce Knowles just terrify. as she sang and danced at Glastonbury, one of Somerset’s sledding music festivals? She was. Anorak loved the bit where she showed us her Fame Wall – you know, those photos of restaurant owners and staff stood by famous people, like snooker legend John Parrot, Jimmy Savile, and in Beyonce’s case, her husband, Jay Z, and Barack Obama. The other highlight was Beyonce doing The Freddie, the move made famous by Freddie & The Dreamers. All Aboard The Edinburgh Tram Gravy Train: Taxpayers Fund Lawyers And Bonuses
AS Scotland cheers for independence, Richard North looks at the Edinburgh tram system that is costing British taxpayers lots and lots of money to build and will cost millions more to run. Nrok looked at the looming mess back in 2009:
Part of the attempt to brighten up and rejuvenate the old grey lady of the north was to put a brand-spanking-new tram system through the centre of Edinburgh.
For months the good burghers and bailees of the Scottish Capital have put up with appalling hold-ups and traffic tailbacks. Scenes equivalent to Bangkok (in happy/rush hour while armed Thai police quell anti-government riots) are common. The City is regularly brought to a gridlocked standstill. (Photo: City Engineers were particularly helpful to commuters with this sign which was spotted on day two of the Princes Street closure.)
SO, what are we to do with the news that the cost of the Edinburgh tram system is now going top £1 billion, by the time it is complete – if it ever is – more than double the starting estimate?
Originally, it was intended to run for twelve miles from Edinburgh Airport to Newhaven via central Edinburgh, including a stretch on Princes Street. The 23 stops on the route were to be served by a fleet of 27 low-floor trams. Now there is doubt that it will do even that.
However, even a truncated scheme will cost £773 million – £273 million more than the budget for the entire project – and the limited service then offered would not be viable. It would need a subsidy of some £4m a year: there is no prospect that the short route would ever make a profit. And scrapping the whole scheme entirely would still end up costing £750 million.

The Mysterious Death Of Christopher Shale: David Cameron’s ‘Rock’ Dead In Glastonbury Toilet
WHO or what killed Christopher Shale, chairman of West Oxfordshire Conservative Association? His body was found in a Glastonbury Festival toilet in the press area at the rear of the Pyramid Stage and the Other Stage. He was 56. David Cameron, MP for Witney in Oxfordshire, says he’s lost “a close and valued friend – a big rock in my life has suddenly been rolled away”.
Who was he?
His family home is six miles from the Camerons’ constituency cottage and a short drive from the homes of Rebekah Brooks, the chief executive of News International, Elizabeth Murdoch, a board director of News Corp, and Steve Hilton, Cameron’s director of strategy in Downing Street.

Reunited With Ashley, Cheryl Cole’s Vagina Rides The Door Knob Of Love: Pregnancy, Photos And A Career BOAST
CHERLY Cole has moved back in with Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole – back into their big house in Surrey. It’s the six-bedroom Georgian property near Godalming the Coles paid £3.55 million for. The place is called… Hurtmore. It was called Hurtmore before “nation’s sweetheart” Cheryl and her flying fists moved in.
And who can hurt more that Our Chezza? Ever since Cheryl punched a black toilet attendant in the face, her core brand values have been hurting and caring. As she watched adolescents sob on the X Factor and squashed their dreams by saying these amateur singers were not good enough to be the next Cheryl Cole, her brand of caring has been force fed to the masses in much the same way geese buy into the foie gras industry.
Cheryl Cole did not fight for her love to Ashley because it was not a love worth fighting for. So, some shock to read in the NoTW:

Glastonbury 2011 Photos: The U2 Tea Party, Sarah Palin, Pole Dancers And Welly Henge
GLASTONBURY Day 2: The rain continued to fall, giving everyone watching the show back home some sense of joy and relief that the BBC had dispatched 274 members of staff to cover the event in the kind of forensic detail Sherlock Holmes would applaud. In our great Photos of Day 2, you will sew Bono, Mr G9, singing songs in front of big neon messages of mottos you can fit on a T-shirt and the names of places they like, or remembers in his prayers.
In the crowd, a few members of pro-tax protest group Art Uncut inflated a 20ft balloon emblazoned with the words “U Pay Your Tax 2”. The balloon was removed by security. Taxes have no place at a big corporate music venue. It’s the last taboo. If Europe needs a Tea Party movement to hook up with Sarah Palin’s supporters in the US, U2 are shoo ins for the official protest song.

Fagilyu Mukhametzyanov Dies At Her Own Funeral (Photos)
FAGILYU Mukhametzyanov, 49, was not dead at her funeral in Kazan, Russia. She woke to the sound of prayers and weeping. She had not died from a heart attack. Medics had made a mistake. Mrs Mukhametzyanov was merely resting. Says her husband, Fagili Mukhametzyanov:
“Her eyes fluttered and we immediately rushed her back to the hospital but she only lived for another 12 minutes.”

Supreme Court Closer Than Ever To Sanctioning Anna Nicole Smith’s Vulva-Shaped Theme Park (Photos)
UP in Heaven, where Anna Nicole Smith lives on God’s knee and every man is an ancient billionaire on his last legs, there is much wailing and and gnashing of teeth. Smith’s estate has lost an appeal to get a slice of her dead husband’s fortune.
J Howard Marshall left most of his cash to E. Pierce Marshall, his son. Smith, who married the 89-year-old when she was 26, got nothing but the flakes of dried skin on her bed sheets and a lingering smell of boiled cabbage. She was displeased. She said Marshall had promised to give her $300m as fair reward for their 14 month-long marriage – the kind of shag-to-cash ratio that Coleen Rooney should note.
Then Smith went and died three years ago. She bequeathed the allegedly promised $300m to her heirs. She might also have revealed news that the City of New York had promised to give her a statue, the Queen Mother had left her her teeth and gin bottle collection and Princess Diana’s last words were “Anna, to you the warm knickers and rights to my signature perfume and inflatable doll”. But one thing at a time. Smith’s estate wants more than the $7m she got from Marshall in gifts.

Louis Walsh And The Spectre Of Gay Sex At A Westlife Concert
LOUIS Walsh is making the kind of front-page news headlines even the cynical PR manipulator at the X Factor could surely do without. Yesterday, the Sun yelled:
“Louis Walsh probed over ‘sex attack on man in loo’”
Looking beyond the tastefulness of a pun made at the expense of alleged sexual assault victim, we were confronted by the shock of Walsh being the subject of a story on his private life. Up until now, Walsh was the man who needed no super-injunction. (Today, the Daily Mail leads with “LAY OFF LOUIS; the Mirror has a sad looking Walsh saying “I’M DEVASTATED“). The media has left him well alone. The man who looks like what would happen if Frank Sidebottom was kidnapped by head hunters and his shrunken noggin stuck atop a spring and placed on the parcel shelf of a family hatchback as it motored down a cobbled road only existed on the telly.

Police Arrest Peter And Neil Flanagan For Killing Burglar Who Broke Into Their Pendlebury Home
PETER Flanagan, 59, and his son and Neil Flanagan, 27, have been arrested for knifing to death the alleged burglar who broke into their home on Ethel Avenue, Pendlebury, Salford. Also arrested is Neil Flanagan’s girlfriend, 21.
The victim, 26, was not alone. He was three other men. The gans broke into just before midnight last night.
When the man was knifed, they dragged him outside. Then they ran off. The homeowner dialled 999.

James Arthur Ray Is Guilty: The Full Story Of The Sedona Sweat Box Deaths
JUSTICE has been served on James Arthur Ray. The motivational speaker was complicit in the deaths of three people at the Sedona Sweat Lodge on October 8, 2009. James Shore and Kirby Brown, died at the scene. Liz Neuman died on October 17 after being comatose for a week. Ray is guilty of “negligent homicide” at the Angel Valley Retreat Center, Arizona.
Anorak has followed the case for months. Here are a few highlights of the case:
AT a James Athur Ray spiritual retreat in Sedona, Arizona, for “harmonic minded individuals” two guests are dead and 19 more are hospitalised. Kirby Brown, 38, and 40-year-old James Shore died at the five-day “Spiritual Warrior Event” that would “accelerate the releasing of your limitations and push yourself past your self-imposed and conditioned borders.”
More than 60 warriors enter a makeshift structure at Angel Valley Retreat Center where hot stones create an intense heat. It’s a sweat box that looks more like a circus tent.
Christine Whelan notes:
Participants should leave when the heat becomes too intense. However, after a week of brainwashing about pushing past “self-imposed” borders, human instinct was overridden by orders from a so-called great leader…
They trusted a well-known, well-loved inspirational leader who had been given the popular culture seal of approval…
James Arthur Ray has been endorsed by the cult of Oprah Winfrey,on Larry King Live and the Today show.
After the horror, James Arthur Ray is at a seminar at a hotel in Marina del Rey, near Los Angeles. He’s not in Arizona. He’s not under arrest. Before a crowd of around 200, he cries. He says he’s hired investigators to look into what went wrong:

Kate Middleton Refuses To Apologise For Her Wimbledon Letter Errors (In Full)
KATE Middleton’s letter to Wimbledon is the Daily Mail’s most popular story. News is that the woman known as the Duchess of Cambridge is a rotten speller. Says the Mail of a letter Kate wrote to the All England club three years ago:
