The Daily Mail’s Problem With Cheese
IN today’s Anatomy of a Daily Mail Scare Story we look at cheese and how it will kill you.
The Mail reports:
Eating large portions of cheese on a regular basis could increase the risk of bladder cancer, according to new research.
The research is not perfect. The researchers said that the “numbers of people in the study may be too small to conclude that cheese is a major health threat”.
Or as the Mail then puts it:
It’s thought diets high in started fat may explain why Western populations have the highest rates of bladder cancer in the world.
In other Daily Mail cheese news:
It’s Not Crackers – Cheese if Good For you… Here we look at popular varieties per 100g slice… Feb 1, 2010
We learnt that 1oo grams of cheese is good for you!
Or as today’s cheese cancer story told us:
“Scientists found the risk increased by more than 50 per cent in those who ate more than 53g, or around 1.8oz a day…”
On 03 January 2007, Mail readers learnt that cheese was a junk food – and that was utter nonsense:
The National Farmers’ Union described the decision as ‘ nannying gone mad’. ‘To suggest there is anything inherently harmful about cheese is absurd,’ spokesman Anthony Gibson said. ‘There is no such thing as a bad food. It is just how much of it you eat, in what balance and how much exercise you take.’
In May 2010, we got:
A piece of cheese a day could keep the doctor away, research has found.
But not all cheeses are equal:
It is a cocktail of heroin and cold medicine that can kill your child – and it goes by the name ‘Cheese’. Police in New York are on alert for a wave of deaths as young children get hooked on the latest fad drug to sweep the city. – 12th October 2010
Say Cheezzzeeeee – and die!

Watching Rabbits Mate With Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood: Photos
WHO better to illustrate the Sexual Nature Exhibition at the Natural History Museum in London than Rolling Stones mascot Ronnie Wood? Well, Jameela Jamil, perhaps. Or Matthew Horne. But they didn’t start taking photos of rabbits at it like, well, rabbits, stuffed foxes entwined in coitus, and two stags rutting. Ronnie then stood next to a splayed gorilla, which resisted all temptation to shag the life out of Ronnie’s hair…

David Cameron: Anti-Islam Propaganda, The EDL And Muslim Terrorists
DAVID Cameron is to talk about terrorism, Islamism and multi-culturalism at a security conference in Munich, Germany. He will say:
“Frankly, we need a lot less of the passive tolerance of recent years and much more active, muscular liberalism. Let’s properly judge these organisations: Do they believe in universal human rights – including for women and people of other faiths? Do they believe in equality of all before the law? Do they believe in democracy and the right of people to elect their own government? Do they encourage integration or separatism?”
“These are the sorts of questions we need to ask. Fail these tests and the presumption should be not to engage with organisations. We have even tolerated these segregated communities behaving in ways that run counter to our values”
The Reactions and News Coverage:
British Muslims
The Ramadhan Foundation said that, by singling out Muslims, Mr Cameron had fed “hysteria and paranoia”.
Chief executive Mohammed Shafiq said: “British Muslims abhor terrorism and extremism and we have worked hard to eradicate this evil from our country. But to suggest that we do not sign up to the values of tolerance, respect and freedom is deeply offensive and incorrect.” – BBC

Sexual Harassment Is A Smirking Matter: Photos
WHEN Konstantinos Kalomoiris, 40, claimed he’d been the victim of sexual harassment at a John Lewis store, we wondered how best to illustrate the story.
Mr Kalomoiris claims Bianca Revrenna, 68, slapped his bottom. He says she looked “like she was savouring it” and that she told him: “I do that to all the boys.” Miss Revrenna says she only “touched his back in a caring way, like a mother or grandmother”. A tribunal is underway.

Glenn Beck’s Stupidity Outwits Slow Obama As Tunisia Leapfrogs Libya
OVER in America, the locals are being tutored in ways of European and North African politics by Glenn Beck. He has chalk, people. He has magnets of camp fires and smiley faces (aciiiiiid). He has a way of saying Toon-ees-ya that makes him sound like a hick. But Beck knows. He knows that Tunisia has “leapfrogged” Libya. He knows that Britain is burning. He knows that – and do get this – “the entire Mediterranean is on fire“.
Egypt: The Best Protest Signs (Mubarak: The Hitler Jew Rabbit)
