Britain’s Got Talent: If You Want To Get A Head Get A Laminated Forehead
BRITAIN’S Got Talent is auditioning in The Opera House, Manchester. And all eyes were on the foreheads. Amanda Holden, Ant ‘n’ Dec and David Hasselhoff have faces that should make a huge-noggined alien from the planet Zorb feel right at home.
The aim seems to be to make the average looking – Holden; Ant ’n’ Dec; Hasselhoff (if you live in Malibu (pint of) everyone looks like him) – that little bit better than the performing hopefuls they can patronise and elevate to celebrity standard.

Swine Flu Scam: Get Yours At Your Local Hospital
THE number of flu deaths in the UK this winter is, according to the figures already released 50 – with 45 due to swine flu – the H1N1 virus – but the England and Wales Health Protection Agency is today (January 13) going to release updated statistics.
It probably needs to since in the island of Jersey (also part of the UK) the health department has recorded 62 cases of swine flu out of a total of 116 cases of flu up to 9 January.
The Channel Islands health department has already written to parents with advice about the virus. Last winter 80 per cent of children were vaccinated against swine flu. This is in direct opposition to the advice the English and Wales health authorities say they are being given.

Joanna Yeates’s Entertaining Death: Will The Media’s Secret Lover Destroy The Victim?
JOANNA YEATES: Introducing Rebecca Scott, no lover, saliva but not yet a vote for you to say who killed Our Jo…
Other than TV programmes, the only show the nation watches together is death. And like the X the X Factor and soap, death is orchestrated for our entertainment. The blurring of fact and fiction means The Death of Joanna Yeates now features a cameo from former EastEnders star Barbara Windsor.
The tabloids are orchestrating the grief in the case of Joanna Yeates. They have turned her into Our Jo, a totem of mourn porn. (So used to calling her Jo are the dead woman’s pals the media that the Star forgot her real name and called her “JOANNE” on its front page). In place of clues and fact, the media treats readers to visions of pain and suffering of those the woman left behind.
Everyone is reduced to a shallow cartoon character with a role to play. Hell, even some facts are twisted for added sensation. Joanna Yeates’s body was found by Longwood Lane, Failand.. Well, not any longer. The Sun tells us:
Her body was found three miles away in a ditch next to a quarry…
We’ve zoomed in on the mother’s tears. We’ve met the mystic. We’ve met Chris Jefferies, a man presented to slack-jawed readers as a blue haired potential serial killer paedo – he got The Full Murat – and we met Matthew Wood who says he got a text from Miss Yeates. This we are told was her “last text“.
Now, in a story of her “last call” we get to cast aspersions on the character of Joanna Yeates. (Last acts are the tabloids’ filler. See Jade Goody.)
The Sun, which seeks ownership of the story with a reward poster that features a photo of the victim it never knew in life below its own masthead (Joanna Yeates is now longer the star turn in her own story). The Sun boasts:
MORE than 45 MILLION Brits will see a digital poster of The Sun’s £50,000 reward campaign to track down Jo’s killer. The images will appear on 3,000 screens at sites such as garages and GPs’ surgeries.
Today the Sun leads with:
“Jo was no love cheat.”
Rebecca Scott battled her grief to slam cruel gossip, insisting Jo was “besotted” with Greg Reardon.
“Cruel gossip” you might have heard about until it was on the front pages.
The Daily Mirror’s front page has:
“MY BEST MATE JO”
“She didn’t have secret lover”
Rebecca Scott is here to appeal for information. But we just get to gawp at Rebecca Scott:
Dressed in black and clutching a tissue and a cup of coffee, Rebecca said Jo was madly in love with her boyfriend Greg Reardon, 27.
The Sun has:
“We used to go down to Cornwall. We’d spend a couple of weeks down there camping. We both loved being near the sea.”
Finally, anyone looking for a clue can turn to the Bristol Evening Post and learn that saliva has been found on Joanna Yeates’s body.
Dr Carolyn Morton, a principal lecturer in forensic science at UWE, said: “If they do have a saliva test and it is a pure sample from one person it is absolutely brilliant news.”
If?
“They then just have to check who or find out who the owner is.”
So says the expert. Go on:
“The thing that is important to know is whether the sample is strong or weak. I would like to know if it is a pure sample and where on the body it was found.”
So would we.
“Potentially it is very exciting news but without knowing exactly what they found there are still many ifs and buts.”
Exciting?
“If it is true they have found this sample then I’m really pleased but, as always, there can be no guarantees.”
If?
Ladies and gentlemen, The Death of Joanna Yeates – pull up an armchair…

Michaela McAreavey Murder Linked To Anni Dewani
MICHAELA McAreavey has been murdered at the Legends Hotel in Mauritius. She was on her honeymoon. This is grim news. But why is the media interested? Why is Mrs McAreavey on the BBC’s national news and the front page of the Daily Express, taking precedence over the murder of Joanna Yeates?
Well, she was married John McAreavey, a member of Down’s Gaelic football team. He father is Tyrone Gaelic football manager Mickey Harte.
The BBC’s man in Northern Ireland, Mark Simpson, shows us how famous Michaela is by holding aloft a newspaper’s front page and introducing a segment of her on a TV talk show with her dad. Twice Simpson tells us that she was 27. He holds up a copy of the Irish News. He tells us:
“Her wedding made front page news, reflecting just how widely known her family is.”
Well, okay. Nice work, Mark. Her dad is famous enough for the murdered woman to feature on the national news. Simpson then shows us another copy of the paper, a more recent edition.
“But less than two weeks later, the same newspaper is reporting her death. At the age of just 27.”
But even more mawkish than Simpson is the Daily Express, which leader with:
Honeymoon horror as another bride is found murdered

Peter Brandt II Explains These Stephanie Seymour Photos
WHEN we saw those photos of model Stephanie Seymour and her son, Peter Brandt II (“Designer, Art Collector, Socialite, and Model, and the eldest son of Supermodel Stephanie Seymour and Newsprint Billionare Peter Brant I”) on the beach, we thought she was with her boyfriend.
Peter is 18. He tells Gawker (via):
“I would just like to say that these pictures have been taken completely out of context, my mother and i are very close as she is with all her children. she often hugs and kisses me and my siblings in an manner that is intimate, any mother in the world does the same. that day on the beach we walked around with each other completely aware of the presence of photographers there. We have nothing to hide and with that in mind I would like to say that I am openly gay. At my age my mother and I are almost like friends and I feel open to talk to her about anything (and yes our relationship may be different because of my sexuality).”
He went on to talk of being followed by the paparazzi:
Photographers are more often than not obvious when they are there (If holding a large camera wasnt enough of a giveaway) We just accept that they exist and try to ignore them. We learn to accept that these photos may appear in the media but we do not appreciate speculation on our personal lives and any other hateful uninhibited opinions.
File under: you’re all sick.

PC Mark Kennedy Forced Into Hippy Sex And To Agree With George Monbiot?
PC Mark Kennedy lived for seven years as Mark Stone, spying for the police. He infiltrated Earth First and became a noted figure among the anti-establishment groups, such as The Wombles. We know about him because when six men and women went on trial for an alleged plat to shut down the Ratcliffe-on-Soar coal-fired power station in Nottinghamshire in 2009, their lawyers asked for information on Kennedy’s involvement. The law blinked and the trial collapsed.
And as the debate wonders if the spy became an agent provocateur, and other plotters vie for the film rights, a woman called Anna says she shagged Mark Stone.
The Guardian says:
She now questions whether the British police have allowed a string of undercover agents to use sex as a “tactic” to disrupt and glean information about environmental campaigns.
Well, yes. A spy seeks to blend in. The undercover copper might have read The Guardian’s doom monger George Monbiot and felt a pressure to nod in agreement and clack his tongue in satisfaction. He might have played the bongos. He might have – gulp! – saluted the sun. He might have preached about upcoming terrors and disasters certain to befall mankind with a messianic glee and then looked agog and affronted when people not just like him failed to say “thanks for the tip”.

Paris In World War 2: Photos Of The Nazi Joie De Vivre
WHEN Paris fell to the Germans in world war two, what was life like in the city of lights? Paris-born photographer André Zucca took photos. They appeared in Signal, the German propaganda magazine, between 1941 and 1944. Are they propaganda? Or are they just what the photographer captured?
Ian Buruma looks at one photo and says:
Even the polar bear at the zoo in Vincennes looks disgusted with the Germans. His head lies on the slab of rock, contemptuous of the German soldier staring at him.

Joanna Yeates: Finally A Celebrity Joins The Story
JOANNA Yeates: the murder of the young, blonde Bristol woman has been missing a vital element to make it really gel with tabloids readers and turn her into this season’s Madeleine McCann. No, not a culprit. The papers have already assassinated Chris Jefferies, given him The Full Murat. This story has been missing a celebrity. So, here’s Barbara Windsor.
The Telegraph has produced as photo of the victim meeting Julian Assange look-alike David Gower when she was at school.
But Babs is so much more relevant to the story. her; what she has to say:
EASTENDERS legend Barbara Windsor last night backed The Sun’s £50,000 reward for helping to catch Jo Yeates’s killer.

Coco Austin Photos Shame Those Vacant Page Three Girls
COCO Austin, Anorak’s Woman of the Year 2010 – now for 2011! – continues to show the Sun’s Page 3 and all other organs of tabloid titillation that the web leads the way in matters of the hearts. While the Sun slaps jarring bon mots on economical and ecumenical matters and noble quotes into their speech bubble mouths, causing the women to look vacant and robotic, mere narcissistic reflections of self-aggrandizing male desires, Coco is all woman. Twitter is her medium. She’s more engaging than a toilet at a cystitis convention. Coco speaks for herself. This is her latest work…

Jared Loughner And Cho Seung-hui: Guns Saved Arizona From Another Virginia Tech
JARED Loughner: Arizona is ok with guns. Guns secure liberty by giving the citizen power. Why should only the police have guns? Had there been more guns at Virginia Tech when Cho Seung-hui used two guns – a Walther .22 semi-automatic and a Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a rapid-fire weapon that is available only to police in virtually every other country but which can legally be bought over the counter in thousands of gun-shops in America – would he have been able to kill 32 people?
If Liviu Librescu had had a gun, would he have been a more effective hero?

Joanna Yeates: Daily Star Renames Her ‘Joanne Yeates’ In Rush To Nail Pizza Killer
JOANNA YEATES: Before the Daily Star’s Typo Of The Year a question: who sent the police a note written on piece of A5 paper in black ink and delivered to the Bristol Ram pub?
The note contained a scrap of pizza wrapping – not from the missing pizza one Joanna Yeates bought before she was killed. It features a bogus address and telephone number. It is not signed.
How do the press interpret this note?
The Sun leads with news of the hoax pizza box letter.

Sicko!
The Mirror writes:
Sick pranksters sent a hand-written note containing a pizza label to the pub where murdered Joanna Yeates was last seen alive.

Jared Lee Loughner: Palin’s Crosshairs, Obama’s Gun And Glenn Beck’s Hitler
GABRIELLE Giffords is shot in the head by Jared Lee Loughner in Tuscon Arizona. He also shoots 19 others, murdering 6, including a federal judge and a nine-year-old girl.
A country might mourn its gun laws. Between 1994 and 2004 there was a ban on assault weapons in the US. Loughner used a Glock handgun with a high-capacity magazines. They might blame Loughner, a nihilist who wants to kill. The law will deal with him. But in the court of public opinion, Sarah Palin is getting the stick.
The leftwing point to Sarah Plain’s gun-laden rhetoric and say she did it. The rightwing should point to Barack Obama’s gun-laden rhetoric and say he did it.
But Palin is the news story. She produced a map of target political wards using crosshairs (or were they crop marks?), one of which was over Giffords’ name. Gifffords saw it and said:
“Sarah Palin has the cross-hairs of a gunsight over our district – and when people do that, they’ve got to realise there are consequences to that action.”
Current affairs suggest she was making a valid point. And Palin – who told her twitter followers: “Don’t retreat, instead- RELOAD!” – was not alone.

Barack Obama Inspired Jared Loughner To Shoot Gabrielle Giffords Chicago Style
WANT to know why nihilistic lunatic Jared Lee Loughner shot 20 people, killing six? Want to know why he shot Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and murdered a nine-year-old girl called Christina Green? Sarah Plain inspired him, right? Those crosshairs and her command: “Don’t retreat, instead- RELOAD!” They did it?
Well, so says one partisan argument. The other one says Barack Obama and his language of violence did it. Back in 2008, Obama told the Republicans:
“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.”

Proof That Asian Sex Gangs Do Not Target White Girls: Jack Straw Is Wrong
JACK Straw says Pakistani men are “fizzing and popping with testosterone”. Fizzy pop? It’s an odd analogy to use when talking about Asian men raping underage girls. These Pakistani men might like to stay at home and shake their bottles like white, Chinese, Jewish, Hindu, Jedi, black – but not Catholic – boys.
Straw added that Pakistani men see white girls as “easy meat”. And a thousand Pakistani teenaged male (all enforced vegans) sigh.
Mr Straw also said the young men are targeting white girls because Pakistani-heritage girls are “off limits“. Or maybe Pakistani heritage girls are already being abused at home? Or maybe the Asian girls all wear burkas and any sex attacker runs the risk of committing incest, which an aide of Mr Straw stresses is frowned upon in Islam. Or maybe a lot of the victims come from broken homes and are trapped in the care system whereas Asian families are solid units that look after one another? Or maybe men just hate women.
Straw made his comments in light of the jailing of Abid Mohammed Saddique, 27, and Mohammed Romaan Liaqat, 28. They were jailed for a minimum of 11 years at and eight years, respectively. Both paedophile rapists groomed underage girls for sex. Both are men.
As we reported:
In all 27 girls have come forward. Fifteen of them have resulted in a conviction. Two of the girls were black and three Asian – the rest were white.

Sarah Palin Inspired Jared Loughner To Shoot Gabrielle Giffords? Photos And Video
JARED Lee Loughner has murderd six and shot 12 more people with a Glock 9mm pistol at a Safeway grocery story in Tuscon, Arizona. It’s his home town. Among the dead are Federal judge John Roll and a nine-year-child. Among the injured is Arizona’s first Jewish member of Congress, a woman named Gabrielle Giffords. She’s a 40-year-old pro-abortion Democrat and gun supporter. Loughner walked up and shot her in the head. So. Why did he do it?
Sarah Palin once aimed her sights at Gifford. She would be Palin’s kill of the day. Gifford was in Sarah Plain’s crosshair as one of the legislators who had voted for Obama’s health care bill.
Palin introduced a map to her Twitter followers with the charming line:
“Don’t retreat, instead- RELOAD!”
Palin was not alone in mixing guns with politics. An Iraq war vet called Jesse Kelly stood against Gifford as the 2010 Republican nominee for Arizona’s 8th congressional district:
He seems to be embracing his fellow tea partier’s idea. Kelly’s campaign event website has a stern-looking photo of the former Marine in military garb holding his weapon. It includes the headline: “Get on Target for Victory in November. Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office. Shoot a fully automatic M16 with Jesse Kelly.”
Palin and her acolytes never made Loughner do it. He has mind of his own.
Loughner has page on YouTube.
I attended school: Thornydale elementary,Tortolita Middle School, Mountain View Highschool, Northwest Aztec Middle College, and Pima Community College.
He says his favouite film is:
(*My idiom: I could coin the moment!*)
His favourite books:
I had favorite books: Animal Farm, Brave New World, The Wizard Of OZ, Aesop Fables, The Odyssey, Alice Adventures Into Wonderland, Fahrenheit 451, Peter Pan, To Kill A Mockingbird, We The Living, Phantom Toll Booth, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, Pulp,Through The Looking Glass, The Communist Manifesto, Siddhartha, The Old Man And The Sea, Gulliver’s Travels, Mein Kampf, The Republic, and Meno.
Here he is (and maybe Obama inspired him to do it):
A old classmate of his – Catie Parker – says Loughner used to be pot head (cue a heated debate on the drugs issue):

Student Deniz Ozgun’s Porn Film Dissertation Shocks Turkey
DENIZ Ozgun wowed the knobs at Istanbul’s Bilgi University by producing a porn film for his final year dissertation.
His film failed in its mission to portray a multi-layered meaning in a postmodern miasma of…etc. He did not pass. The man whose website tells of his “general interest in women” failed. But he did tell a local organ about it.
And as a polemic the film is a raging success. The private university’s film department has been shut. Three academics have been sacked. And police are investigating.

Joanna Yeates Becomes Maddie McCann, Baby P And Jade Goody
JOANNA Yeates is getting the Jade Goody treatment on the cover of the Sun. Indeed, the murdered woman is becoming an every woman of the tabloid system.
She’s Madeleine McCann:
The paper has seized ownership of blonde Joanna Yeates with a print-and-stick-up reward poster. Ghouls can stick a picture of the murdered woman in their shop, car or bedroom window. Why should Bristol (27 unsolved murders) have all the entertainment? Stick up a photo of Miss Yeates in Sunderland, Belfast and Poole and get involved with the paper’s orchestrated mourn porn. And don’t forget Liverpool. Sure, Liverpool doesn’t like the Sun since that Hillsborough story, but can it deny that the Sun cares? Time to put personal feelings to one side. Do it for Jo.
The Sun has posted a reward. Any armchair detective able to nail the killer can get £50,000. There was already a reward on offer (£10,000). But the Sun’s reward is higher. Although it might mean that if you claim it your name becomes linked in print to the story. So. Think on.
In order of importance, the message reads from top down: “THE SUN… £50,000… JOANNA YEATES.”
The Football
Bristol City footballers are wearing T-shirts with a photos of Joanna Yeates on. Our Maddie started a trend.
Our Jo
Joanna Yeates is Jo Yeates. At what point do papers think it fitting and proper to use a victim’s shortened name? At what point do readers feel like they really know Jo?
Robert Murat
