Let’s Buy The Terrestar-1 Satellite And Give Free Internet To The Forgotten Billions
WANNA buy a satellite? The Terrestar-1 satellite is up for grabs. Maybe.
The machine was designed to provide 2-GHz mobile voice and data communications, monitoring and messaging services throughout the US. And it might be up for sale.
TerreStar Networks Inc., the company that owns it has filed for bankruptcy on October 19, 2010.
TerreStar had $1.4 billion of assets and $1.64 billion of liabilities as of June 30, according to a quarterly report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The group A Human Right wants to get enough money to buy and use it to provide free internet to some of the 5 billion people on the planet who have never used the worldwide web. They argue that the web is a universal human right.

Barack Obama And Prince Charles: Two Green Peas In A Thin-Skinned Pod
SO, which US leader is the most stupid? This is big question in the media since Sarah Palin called North Korea a friend of The US. She responded to her error (and, yes, she know she had made one) with a witty address based on Barack Obama’s litany of verbal rickets.
The media is so biased that in today’s Independent readers get the “great American gaffe-off”, pitting Sarah Palin against George Bush. What, no Bill Clinton, a man who didn’t even know what “sexually relations” meant? No Joe Biden, the current VP, the man who told wheelchair bound Missouri Senator Chuck Graham to stand up to be recognized at a rally. “Chuck, stand up, let the people see you,” said Joe.
What, no Back Obama, the man who called her a “pig” and once attempted to enter the White House through a window?

Dara And Sara Are Iran’s National Dolls Declare War On Barbie
AS Mahmoud Ahmadinejad seeks to promote marriage and wean wayward Iranian youth off concrete penises and Grammar Of Change, reader Ed Brett turns us onto Dara and Sara, Iran’s “answer to Ken and Barbie”; aka the Ahmadinejad child sex dolls.
Ken and Barbie never looked like forming much of a question, let alone a coherent answer. But Iran is nothing if not reactionary and brings to the market “Muslim dolls”.
Again, this is odd. Giving a doll a name is one thing, but making it religious seems out of kilter with its lack of soul; although the shiny eyes do lend themselves to evangelical Christianity.

Man Smashes Motel Room Hunting For Trapped Midget
MOVE over Capri Anderson and Charlie Sheen – the midget needs some space. At the Motel 6 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, Joseph Jones has received a phone call from the “manager”, or so Mr Jones claims. It is late at night. The voice tells him that he needs to break thing to free the midget trapped next door.
The voice tells him that the previous guest has wired the room with cameras. They need to be destroyed. The vice tell him to unplug the TV. He needs to go into the bathroom and remove the lid from the toilet cistern. He should not take the lid and smash the TV with it. The TV must then be tossed out of the window.
There are cameras behind mirrors. He is told to take a wrench and break the mirrors. He does so.

Wikileaks: Russia’s State Radio Smears Julian Assange
WIKILEAKS is back making news for the rest of the media. A load of US State Department cables are about to be leaked. How many? Almost three million. Who’d be a researcher wading through that lot?
The cables are between the US and Australia, and the US and Canada.
Yes, readers, Canada has hit the international news agenda! That big slap on ice and moose between American and Sara Plain rear window is newsworthy. And it’s all thanks to Wikileaks.
Meanwhile, David Gower look-alike Julian Assange is in the UK, reacting to news that a Swedish court has rejected his appeal against a detention order in a rape case.

Katie Price Is Too Good For The Today Show
KATIE Price has been invited to guest-edit the BBC Radio 4’s Today programme. How can it have taken so long for one of the countries most prolific authors and thinkers to edit a newspaper, let alone a radio show?
Why has Richard Desmond persisted in putting Jordan on the cover of OK! to sell magazines, and bastardised her words on his newspaper’s cover to give credence to its newsy purpose, and not just gone all in and employed Price fulltime to save his lamentable organ and allow us to experience her undiluted every day?

Student Demo: Daily Mail Reports That Every Student Went On A Rampage (Photos)
THE SECOND student demo against a hike in fees produced not very much in the way of mayhem. But the Mail had already written its story.
Burning with anger: London streets in flames again as 25,000 go on rampage in new student fees riot
So says “Daily Mail reporter” watching 25,000 students on a “rampage”.
Those students on demos in Manchester, Sheffield, Bristol, Leeds, Brighton and Cambridge may well wonder if they should bother given that violence in London is all the news media cares about. But then they should read on and discover that their mannered and orderly protest was part of the “rampage”:
Around 10,000 students and protesters flooded London for a new demonstration just a fortnight after anarchists unleashed mayhem at the Tory Party headquarters. More than 25,000 students in total are believed to have taken part in protests across the country today.
And, according to Daily Mail Reporter, almost everyone of them was on a “rampage”.
Those rampage photos:

This god-awful reporting is almost bettered by the Mail’s second story:
Rage of the girl rioters: Britain’s students take to the streets again – and this time women are leading the charge

50 Photos Of The London Student Demo: The Quiet Riot
THE second Student demo against fees has created more front-page headlines about violence. And once again a single photo dominates the news. The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Guardian lead with a picture of a student ninja stood on the bonnet of a police van left in the middle of Whitehall (photo number 5).
In Student Demo 1 the violence was more acute and nine nationals newspapers led with Dominic Lipinski’s photo of a hooded youth kicking the windows of London’s Millbank Tower.

Asian Pimps, Rape Gangs, Pakistani Paedophiles And Teenage Dreams
IN Derby a third Anglo-Asian gang in recent weeks to have raped and abused young girls has been sentenced. The police are getting more active.
One victim was aged 12. In all 27 girls have come forward. Fifteen of them have resulted in a conviction. Two of the girls were black and three Asian – the rest were white.
In this latest case, eight men have been convicted so far. At Leicester Crown Court Abid Mohammed Saddique, 27, and Mohammed Romaan Liaqat, 28 – both married with children – are between them found guilty of rape, sexual assault, sexual activity with a child and aiding and abetting rape.
Others already sentenced are: Akshay Kumar, 38; Faisal Mehmood, 24; Mohammed Imran Rehman, 26; Graham Blackham, 26; Naweed Liaqat, 33; Farooq Ahmed, 28; Ziafat Yasin, 31.
The BBC makes no mention of the ethnicity of the victims and the criminals. The Pakistani names are clear. But are the crimes triggered by religion and race? Do these Pakistanis think white girls are easy? Do the girls fall in love with the boy showering them with attention? The Times told us in 2008 of life in Bradford:
Well-dressed Asian teenage boys can be found on the lookout for young white girls, following them around those stores that sell cheap jewellery and perfume. Meanwhile, older men sit on the benches, watching their workers and potential recruits in action. The older men are “employing” the boys to chat up the girls and eventually hand them over.
As for this latest crime wave, the Mail takes a different tone:
Asian gang raped girls as young as 12 after picking them up on the streets for sex

Student Demo 2 In Photos: Will They Urinate On The Cenotaph?
ON Whitehall students are protesting against fees. It’s Demo 2. And it is live on the BBC and Sky. And all we will read about is the violence.
In Manchester:
The general consensus seems to be that Manchester’s was a peaceful protest so you won’t see much in the papers. They must have sent all the trouble-makers down to London.
In London, one police officer had sustained a broken arm. A student ninja is stood on the top of a police van. The windscreen is smashed. “Pigs” has been written on it and a cone placed on the roof. (The van was parked slap bang in t the middle of the road, somewhat foolishly.) And that’s it.
But Sky News and the BBC have acres of live news to fill so there are shots of people not doing very much and police stopping them from doing anything too newsworthy.

The First Korean War In Photos: Chinese And US Make Ready
NORTH Korea has fires upon South Korea’s Yeonpyeong island. The talk is of “massive retaliation”. Two South Korean marines are dead. Are we on the verge of war a repeat of the 1950s? Will the US fight the Chinese? The nuclear-powered USS George Washington is heading to the region.
Before pictures from that bloody time – and the images are evocative and emotive – a look at what the North Korean news service is saying about matters:
THE Supreme Command of the Korean People’s Army Tuesday released the following communique: The south Korean puppet group perpetrated such reckless military provocation as firing dozens of shells inside the territorial waters of the DPRK side around Yonphyong Islet in the West Sea of Korea from 13:00 on Nov. 23 despite the repeated warnings of the DPRK while staging the war maneuvers for a war of aggression on it codenamed Hoguk, escalating the tension on the Korean Peninsula.
The above-said military provocation is part of its sinister attempt to defend the brigandish “northern limit line,” while frequently infiltrating its naval warships into the territorial waters of the DPRK side under the pretext of “intercepting fishing boats.” The revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK standing guard over the inviolable territorial waters of the country took such decisive military step as reacting to the military provocation of the puppet group with a prompt powerful physical strike. It is a traditional mode of counter-action of the army of the DPRK to counter the firing of the provocateurs with merciless strikes.
Should the south Korean puppet group dare intrude into the territorial waters of the DPRK even 0.001 mm, the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK will unhesitatingly continue taking merciless military counter-actions against it. It should bear in mind the solemn warning of the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK that they do not make an empty talk.
There is in the West Sea of Korea only the maritime military demarcation line set by the DPRK.
Remember when..? Around 100,000 British servicemen and women served in the Japan-Korea theatre during the war. British casualties: 1,078 killed; 2,674 wounded; 1,060 missing or taken prisoner.

X Factor Wannabe Katie Waissel’s Prostitute Grandma Is A Marvel: Photos
THE news that X-Factor wannabe Katie Waissel granny is an 81-year-old ‘escort’ filled me with joy yesterday. I was soooo impressed. (And let us not forget porn star Ruby Tuesday.)
‘Pensioner Sheila Vogel-Coupe offers sex as a “vintage vamp” under the name of Grand Dame Cecilia Bird and boasts she has clients in their twenties,’ screamed the News of the World in their story wittily headlined ‘Gum and get it’. The Sun calls her the ‘£250-an-hour crinkly tart’ today in its customary cheapo recap of its sister paper’s exclusives.
Read: How The X Factor And Sony BMG Fixed It For Katie Waissel, aka Katie Vogel.
I must say the Grand Dame looks nothing like her age and demonstrates a wit and canniness young hacks on tabloids can only dream about. She has found the wherewithal to buy her ‘sheltered accommodation’ flat – so the housing association can’t throw her out – and she shortly embarks on a trip to Italy. She dresses elegantly, loathes tattoos, drinks fine red wines and probably uses an expensive mouthwash.

PAUL Chambers, of the Twitter Joke Trial, has instructed David Allen Green, head of media law at Preiskel & Co, and Ben Emmerson QC of Matrix Chambers, to represent him at the High Court.
A review of the matter that made a criminal of Paul Chambers and saw him fined £1,000.
6th January 2010:
Paul Chambers wants to take flight to see @crazycolours. He Tweets:
“Crap! Robin Hood Airport is closed. You’ve got a week and a bit to get your shit together, otherwise I’m blowing the airport sky high!!”
11th January 2010:
The Airport Duty Manager is searching Twitter for Robin Hood Airport (RHA). He is off duty. He finds the aforesaid Tweet. He thinks it is joke, probably. He sends it in a email to the Station Manager. The Station Manager labels it a “non-credible threat”. He then tells Special Branch, who are stationed at the Airport. The matter reaches the ears of Doncaster Police.
