X Factor 2010: How The Bullying Sun Turned Katie Waissel Into The Underdog We Love
KATIE Waissel is not the most dislikeable X Factor product. That one usually wins or gets to sit in judgement. Waissel, who worked at OK!, mingled with BMG supremos, knows Sharon Osbourne (see judges) and Dermot O’Leary’s manager, and opened for East 17 is no mere plucky amateur.
But these facts and her uttering the line, “I just want to be a legend. I want to create a legacy and that’s what I will do” does not mean she must be hated.
Indeed, the pressure piled on Katie Wassiel is such that if it can be cranked up Our Katie can be the show’s underdog and thus become a firm favourite with the UK voting public. Bullying is the X Factor buzzword and, perversely, if Katie can be a victim, she can survive.
Already Joe McElderry, Daryl Johnson and Alex Reid have come out in support of Katie. They care. And they want you to know it.

But can Katie be made to look more hateful? Here’s Sharon Hendry in the Sun. This is the “dark side of Katie”, the “fame junkie”.
Katie, we learn, has a “supreme self-belief that belies her age – and ability.”
In short, Katie is ambitious and confident. And the tabloids hate ambitious young British women. Hendry wonders:
So what has instilled such incredible self-confidence in someone aged just 24? And why is Waissel so desperate to be worshipped?
Dunno, Sharon. Maybe she wants to do well and has self-belief? And as for her being worshipped, let’s not underplay it, Sharon. Let’s not build up Katie into an even bigger wannabe than she already is and make her look like a cross between Violet Elizabeth Bott, Anthea Turner and Cherie Blair.

Middle -class and stable?! Where’s the story in that, eh? Unless, you look at, say, Madonna or Lady Gaga who both had good homes. And this is all it is – a glance. I’m glad this is only for one day. I can’t stop reading them. The number of accidental 999 calls from mobiles or kids playing with phones is unbelievable – as is the number of silent calls. I’ve read one Tweet saying it was the 22nd 999 call from the same mobile number so I guess they can’t trace it unless they break the law by making a hoax call or threatening them.
Tonight there’s been loads of reports of kids throwing fireworks about so no wonder they hate shops selling them too early for bonfire night – it must be a nightmare to have to follow up all the calls.

Commonwealth Games 2010 Closing Ceremony Photos: No-One Died
COMMONWEALTH Games 2012: No one died. No one was sucked down a drain in the swimming pool when two people in the athletes’ village / sink estate flushed the toilet at the same time.
Australia won lots of gold medals for swimming. England became rebranded as Team England and gave full throat to Jerusalem, a song that calls for England to be split by religion-fired fighting between the natives and patronised by Jeremy Bowen.
Indian fans stayed at home – although not the Indian soldiers with the impressive moustaches. Lots of people played pipes in public. And the Seychelles tonked it bitter rivals Tonga in the medals table…
The London Olympics has very little to live up to. Thank fuck for the Commonwealth…

MUKESH Ambani’s house in Mumbai is called Antilia. It costs £630, has 27 storeys, a 50 seat cinema, a ballroom, a roof garden with an actual roof high enough to accommodate trees and has parking for 160 cars. It is less a home than it is a district.

Meow Meow: Rebecca Cardwell Was Killed By Government’s Failed Drugs Policy And Greed
MEOW Meow: Yesterday we told you that Rebecca Cardwell, 19, died after a taking a combination of four drugs she and four friends bough in a £25 wrap. At Burnley magistrates’ court Pathologist Dr Abdul Al-Dawoud says the mephedrone in her system was more than “three times the normal level for recreational use”.
The papers all fully agree that meow meow killed Rebecca Cardwell. It was not the other three drugs nor the combined effects of all four that killed her. It was meow meow, that headline–making drug the outgoing Labour government hastily banned in a bid to look tough.
No-one died from mephedrone before the ban. When it was legal it could be bought over the counter. The punters knew it was toxic but knew what toxins they were buying. On its own, meow meow has not killed anyone. Now, you buy it and take your chances.
The powders Miss Cardwell took contained mephedrone, benzylapiperazine (BZP), trifluoromethylphenylpiperazine (TFMPP) and amphetamines. The coroner says the cause of death as the toxic effect of all four substances.

Linda Norgrove: What Really Happened To The Killed British Aid Worker
LINDA Norgrove: the 36-year-old British aid worker captured by the Taliban died in failed rescue attempt. She was being held in Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley when US special forces launched their raid. She had been held for 13 days. She was working for a US aid agency called Development Alternatives. Over 150 US Navy Seals went in. Linda Norgrove was an important figure.
And then..? The story goes that she was either killed by a grenade thrown into the compound by the US forces or a kidnapper detonating a suicide vest.
What happened?
Says David Cameron
“It’s a judgment, it’s a balance. I will go over in my own mind 100 times whether it was the right decision, but I believe it was.”
The Tabloid Agenda
Says the Mirror:
“We do not for a second doubt the anguish of the Prime Minister, who supported a rescue attempt because he was told the British aid worker’s life was in serious danger.”
Well, only a nutter with an agenda would call Cameron a liar. But good of the anti-Cameron Mirror to suggest Cameron is a liar and then dismiss the claim. Nice.
And further to the Left on the pages of the World Socialist Worker:
Cameron’s statement points to a deliberate cover-up by the Pentagon, with the aid of the US puppet regime in Afghanistan. The only question unanswered is whether the British government was also in the know from the start, or was, in the words of the Telegraph, treated “like an ill-informed and gullible patsy by our chief allies in the world”. The first scenario is the more likely.

The X Factor’s Big PR Stunt: Why Gamu Nhengu Is The New Wispa Bar
X FACTOR 2010: Gamu Nhengu did not make the final 12 and will not get to sing in the live show. But because the X Factor is the most manipulative, conniving show on the telly, Gamu will sing on the live shows.
When Simon Cowell told the singers that there are “no second chances”, they might have thought he meant it. But that was before he chose Niall, Harry, Zian, Liam and Louis to be a boy band called 1 Direction (aka Five Do Justin Bieber’s hair) and Esther, Sophie, Geneva and Rebecca were mushed into a blancmange of an act called Belle Amie.
And the no second chances rule will help Gamu because she’s the favourite to get a second chance as a “wildcard” entry.
The wildcard system works simply like this. The X Factor cans a few of the less terrible singers and then sits back and waits for a media shitstorm as the fans clamour for their favourite’s recall. The four acts who create the most online buzz get the nod. And that means Gamu is in.
It’s PR speak it’s known as the Wispa Method.
It is the ultimate social media PR trick. A company threatens to pull a brand and then sits back and watches as fans start huge Facebook/Twitter/blog campaign to save it.

I HAVE a feeling that David Cameron’s chief spinner, Andy Coulson, will be soon exiting Number 10.

X Factor 2010: Cher Lloyd’s Mental ‘Breakdown’ Is A Public Sport
THE X FACTOR: News is that Cher Lloyd, the Dot Cotton Team America action figure who was once excluded from school for a fight and whose family are Malvern’s version of The Dingles, is “fragile”.
It’s Boot Camp, also known as the Weeping Zone. And Cher is shedding a tear. No, she’s not weeping for the nations and the sick – she’s not Cheryl Cole yet.
The Sun says the 17-year-old is “feared to be close to a breakdown”. One teenager’s mental wellbeing is front-page news.
No less than two Sun writers – Jen Blackburn and Lucy Connolly – were watching telly and saw Cher fail to sing her song before Cheryl Cole and Will.I.Am.
Nonetheless, Cher is through to the show’s live rounds.
No fewer than three unnamed expects are lined up to wonder if Cher will go bonkers. An expert from Rethink, a mental health charity, says “NO!” Another expert from Kidscape says “YES!” An expert from MIND says getting Cher a counsellor is gladdening.
None of the unnamed experts are doctors of psychiatrists. They are all just representatives of organisations. But, still, guessing about Cher’s “breakdown” is now a public sport. Anyone can play.

MADELEINE McCann: The McCanns have a new team of detectives working in Portugal, and that news coincides with the fact that Kate McCann has returned to Portugal “to pray”.

Mum And Lover Who Taped Child To Wall Jailed: Photos
JAYLA Hamm and Corde Honea are in jail. The two are convicted of taping a 22-month-old child to a wall at their Lincoln, Nebraska, home with duct tape. It is Jayla’s child. Mum is 18. Corde is her lover.
They are young enough to be the child’s brother and sister – and this is the kind of domestic torture usually reserved for feuding siblings.
The pair also taped the child’s cup to the wall – just beyond his reach. The pictures show that the child’s hands appear to be taped closed into a fist.

IRMA Nici and David Beckham update time now, readers. Having decided for whatever reason that Irma Nici is a liar, the Sun seeks to confirm it by sharing a few words with Michelle Braun, a madam.

4chan’s Operation Payback Is A Bitch For ACS:Law, BT And You
‘OPERATION Payback Is a Bitch’ is 4chan’s /b/ board targeting of ACS:Law. ACS: Law go after so-called web pirates downloading music, videos and games.
4chan members, who seem to know a lot about downloading stuff, launched a DDoS attack on ACS: Law’s website. And it went down.
You see, if you’re thought to have downloaded a film illegally, ACS: Law will send you a letter demanding payment or else.
One woman called Claire got a letter from ACS: Law demanding £495 for allegedly downloading Chubby Chasers.
On some websites you can buy such films for as little as $11 – which pound-for-pound is very reasonable, we’re told.
The fine is heavy. And if you’ve been accused of downloading illegal porn would you want to go to court?
So the 4chan users set about bringing down ACS:Law by gaining access to their servers and downloading lots of files – including the names, credit card details and addresses of over 5,000 Sky Broadband customers. Sky Broadband and all ISPs are bound by law to make such data available. In this case, Sky’s customers were accused of illegally downloading porn films.
ACS:Law “appears to compile lists of alleged infringers tracked by IP addresses, then appeals for a court order to the relevant internet service provider to hand over more information about the customer before taking the accused to court.”
Sky released a statement, having noticed that ACS:Law’s systems were not all that secure:
“Following recent events, we have suspended all co-operation with ACS:Law with immediate effect. This suspension will remain in place until ACS:Law demonstrates adequate measures to protect the security of personal information.”
ACS:Law’s boss is Andrew Crossley. The Register got him on the phone:
“It was only down for a few hours. I have far more concern over the fact of my train turning up 10 minutes late or having to queue for a coffee than them wasting my time with this sort of rubbish.”
4chan users were listening. This was an incentive to crank up the attack.
