James Bulger And Jon Venables: The Killer Is Identified
JAMES Bulger and Jon Venables: THE twists and turns of the Strange Case of Jon Venables – or whoever he is now – got a little darker and dirtier yesterday when the Prime Minister backed the system which is keeping the joint murderer of a two-year-old hidden from the public, writes AGW.
Venables is said to be terrified and sticking to his cell in the prison we can’t name for fear of identifying him. He was booked in under his false identity and prison officers were not told who they were dealing with. Jon Venables’ Girlfriend, A ‘Stabbing’ And A Politically Incorrect Jack Straw
WHATEVER name James Bulger’s killer Jon Venables calls himself, it will not be the name Privy Councillor Jack Straw remembers him by from now on. A lot stronger noun will spring to Jack’s lips, writes AGW.
Justice Secretary Straw has refused to reveal why Jon Venables, who was convicted at the age of 10 of the murder of two-year-old James Bulger, has been sent back to prison for unspecified breaches of the conditions of his release on a life licence, says The Guardian.
The Times, very correctly, points out this is the first time Venables has been in jail. Up to to his 2001 parole he spent eight years being rehabilitated in secure children’s’ homes.
Straw says it is not in the public interest that details of the reason Venables has been jailed for the first time should be released.
His closest political colleague Alan Johnson the Home Secretary seemed to show a testy and disagreeable attitude and and conceded the public has a right to know. Then backed off a little by saying:
“I can say nothing more than confirm that Jon Venables is back in custody. I believe the public do have a right to know and I believe they will know all the facts in due course. But I must in no way prejudice the future criminal justice proceedings.”

The BBC’s big PR stunt – why 6 Music is the new Wispa
It is the ultimate social media PR trick. A company threatens to pull a brand and then sits back and watches as fans start huge Facebook/Twitter/blog campaign to save it.
It worked a treat for Wispa and in a smaller way for Subbuteo and now it seems that BBC’s Dir Gen Mark Thompson is about to pull it off again for BBC 6 Music.
Here’s the theory
1 The BBC needs to be seen to be making cuts. If it doesn’t it knows that the Tories (and maybe even Labour) will hack away at the licence fee and reduce its budget after the election.
2 Closing a few websites (many of which have been mothballed already) won’t be enough to pacify James Murdoch and his pals in the Tory party, so Thompson needs a good headline.
3 Thompson knows that of all the channels/stations it could close BBC 6 Music is the one most likely to trigger a campaign to ensure its survival. Even before Tuesday there was a Facebook group with over 50,000 supporters.
4 So by threatenign to close 6 Music Thompson looks as if he is seriously making cuts (although its closure will save less than £6 million a year – which is twice Anne Robinson’s salary – a drop in the ocean).
5 However he knows that the campaign to save it will give the station a huge fillip and will almost certainly significantly increase the number of listeners it gets.
6 Eventually the BBC Trust will save 6 Music making the BBC look like it is listening to its customers. Sir Michael Lyons has already hinted it will be saved.
7 BBC 6 Music will continue with a much higher profile
8 The BBC and Thompson in particular manage to look like it is making cuts when in reality it has just undertaken a bit of good housekeeping
He might be smug, but that Mark Thompson sure is clever. However the Tories are very quiet on the BBC at the moment. Slicing up the BBC is not much of a vote winner. The Murdochs will however want their pound of flesh and I can’t believe that the Tories won’t be taking a knife to the BBC if they win the election.

James Bulger: This IS Jon Venables
ONE of the killers of toddler James Bulger was back in prison last night after breaching the conditions of his release, says The Sun under the screaming banner headline, “Bulger Killer Back in Prison”, writes AGW.
Jon Venables, now 27, was out under licence and protected by a world-wide injunction preventing media from identifying him or him contacting his best pal joint-child murderer Robert Thompson or the Bulger family.
Thompson still out and living under licence somewhere, and Venables were hidden when released in 2001. The protections were in place for life.
They killed two-year-old James on Merseyside in 1993 and at the time were the youngest children to be convicted of murder in British history
Denise Fergus. James mum said on on her Twitter site: “Would like to let everyone know jon venables is where he belongs tonight behind bars this is my sons justice.”
Whatever else, if Venables has been slammed back in the chokey for breaching his release licence it was for something very serious and not pinching a bag of midget gems from a corner shop somewhere. This has to have been for a gross breach because the powers-that-be could not have allowed a climb down and failure on this scale for trivia.
Embarrassing
It indicated two things…either he was living in Britain all along and not the rumoured Canada or the offence is so bad the reluctant host country has shoved him in a plane for the Brits to sort out.

WHEN the National Enquirer got wind that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were suing the News of The World over fables of their “divorce”, it panicked. It scouted around for a new love interest to feature on its front pages every week. It settled upon John Mayer, who would sit squeezed between Jessica Simpson and Jenifer Aniston – two exes.

It’s a legal tale. Sutcliffe wants to know if life means life since the judge at his trial said he should serve at least 30 years. That time is up soon. A doctor at the the maximum security Broadmoor Mental Hospital says he should never have been convicted of murder because he was ill and the judge says if that was the case there could be a case for over-turning the murder verdicts. He is unlikely to receive compensation for his years in the chokey.

David Paterson: Harlem’s Great Black And Proud Hope Felled And Racists Take New York
WHEN New York State Governor David Paterson walked into the waiting ambush, there were those who saw it coming and knew the bear trap had been laid by Paterson himself, writes AGW.
Strangely, he seemed to have forgotten or ignored the fact it was there.
The unrepentant Proudly Black and Fiercely Blind Paterson did not apologise for either his behaviour or his attempts to squirm away from the real and present danger which the New York Times had very clearly signalled was waiting in the wings.

Governor David Paterson, happens to be a Democrat and both Black and Blind, the state’s first African-American governor – and the first blind governor in America.
On the day after his appointment he admitted using cocaine and he and his wife had a series of affairs, and did what any shrewd politico would do. He asked for forgiveness. The alleged crack-head then allegedly carried on as before. There are rumours of womanising and drug use.
Paterson took over 18 months ago after Governor Eliot Spitzer was politically castrated by his fondness for prostitutes.
Things did not go well and a State Senator used a television interview to call Paterson a “coke-snorting, staff-banging governor,” there was no super-injunction and no come back.
The New York Times thundered Paterson should not seek re-election in November this year.
