Kansas City Star wants reporters Karen Dillon or Dawn Bormann to pick which one of them gets fired?
WHO’D be Karen Dillon or Dawn Bormann? It’s been reported that the two reporters on the Kansas City Star have to decide which one of them gets fired. The clear move would be to sack the indecisive / sadistic jerk who thought of this pre-Christmas wheeze.
KC Confidential reports:
They brought in two reporters – Karen Dillon and Dawn Bormann – and told them that one of them had to go. And that they had to decide which one would stay and they had until next week to figure it out. Sort of like ‘The Hunger Games.’ That’s the scuttlebutt anyway.

Blind man runs over girlfriend after 5 bottles of wine
GALLOWS humour is something that drags every one of us through the day because, without it, we’d spend our entire lives sobbing at work.
And so, let us laugh at a story about a man who is registered blind, running over his partner in a car, after drinking five bottles of wine… because the reality of it could very well be far too depressing to contemplate.

CCTV footage of fools in train stations released
BEING drunk on a train is the single most soul-destroying experience a human can suffer. Sat on a wobbling, hot carriage with a headache, reeking of ale and needing the toilet every 10 minutes. If you’re going to be drunk on a train, at least have the clout to have been on a good night out beforehand, rather than just getting trolleyed on a choo-choo.
That said, if you do end up tottering through a train station when you’ve had a few, you might end up on a video put out by a train company.

Turkey: Apocalypse hotspot
THE end of the world is clearly nigh. Badgers are trying to kill us and catfish will almost certainly be eating us whole very soon. Even the Australian PM has warned us of an imminent end-game. The only thing left for us to do is grab the popcorn and watch the horror unfurl.
And where’s the best place to do it? TURKEY! How seasonal.

ROSIE Taylor has read Closer magazine. She has read about Leanna Broderick, an unemployed, black, single mum who brings up two young children on her own in Croydon. Taylor takes a different line:
While many families are worrying about how to afford Christmas this year, one jobless single mother has revealed she receives so much in benefits she has £2,000 to spend on designer gifts, clothes and partying.

The story of the Klu Klux Klan in pictures: racism, civil rights and murder
THE Klu Klux Klan was once powerful. The Far Right, anti-immigration, anti-Catholic, anti-black, anti-Jew, anti-anything not white and Protestant and lately pro-Nazi group has been a fixture of the US political lanscape ever since it was founded in 1865.
This is a history of its members and those who opposed its racism in photos. The captions are of their time:

CAN the Jacintha Saldanha story get worse? Well, yes:
Austereo CEO Rhys Holleran has admitted the station attempted to contact the hospital after recording a prank phone call involving a nurse who later took her life.
In an interview with Melbourne radio station 3AW this morning, Mr Holleran said his team had tried to liaise with London’s King Edward VII Hospital before airing the controversial call.
“We rang them up to discuss what we had recorded. Absolutely (before it went to air). We attempted to contact them on five occasions… because we wanted to speak to them about it,” he said.

Warning: This Daily Express story could ‘potentially cause harm to people with cancer’
THE Daily Express has a question: “DO CANCER ALTERNATIVES REALLY WORK?”
Well, if alternatives did work surely people suffering from the hideous disease would use them, no? Or is the medical profession so stubbon and stupid that it does not consider alternative “remedies” in the face of proof that they work? Jane Warren reports:
THE YOUNG mother who disappeared with her seven-year- old son to prevent him receiving cancer treatment for a brain tumour was motivated by an understandable desire not to see him suffer any more than he needs to, says the seven-year-old boy’s father.
After a frantic nationwide search both Neon and Sally Roberts have now been found and the youngster has been temporarily placed in protective care and will be given the emergency treatment he needs.
