Transfer Balls: Luis Suarez Leaves His Kids In Liverpool As He Heads To Real Madrid
WILL this summer be another season of Luis Suarez transfer rumours? No say these Liverpool FC experts:
Daily Telegraph, March 4, 2014:
Liverpool striker Luis Suárez vows to stay at Anfield no matter whether club qualifies for Champions League
Although Ayre admitted that Liverpool’s remarkable success in the Premier League this season could see the vultures circle around Suarez in the summer transfer window, with Manchester City and Real Madrid understood to be monitoring the Uruguayan, the managing director insisted that the club is not in the business of selling its star assets.
Speaking to Uruguayan TV channel Canal 10, the new PFA Player of the Year said: “Don’t worry, nothing is going to happen to me. I’m very happy here and my family is happy here.
Liverpool FC boss Brendan Rodgers is confident there will be no repeat of last summer’s Luis Suarez transfer saga as he insisted: “I know he’s very happy here.”
Daily Telegraph, May 16:
Luis Suarez: Liverpool are one of the best clubs in the world – I love it here. Premier League’s leading scorer says he has no thoughts of leaving Anfield for Real Madrid or Barcelona despite persistent rumours of a move away

Liverpool Balls: The Poor Reds Fans Who Bought Premier League Champions 2014 Shirts
WHAT’S that chirping sound. No. It’s not Jamie Carragher giving more insight on SKY TV (“Sleep cornflakes scouring pad chops medina happy ways on”). It’s the sound of chickens coming home to roost. For a period, the Premier League title looked like Liverpool’s to lose. Which they did, slipping – literally – against Chelsea and seeing a three goal lead undone at Crystal Palace.
A few fans – ones who surely have no memories of 1989 and all that – went out and invested their heard-earned cash in victory shirts.

Manchester United Balls: Bitter United Fans Fly Anti-Gerrard Banner Over Liverpool
MANCHESTER United fans are looking increasingly bitter and sad.To put the tin lid on a season where the club that for so long has held sway over English football fell to bits – and in which local rivals Manchester City won big – they flew a banner over Anfield.
As Liverpool fans and players watched the Premier League title they had looked well set to capture pass them by, overhead the message mocked Reds captain Steven Gerrard:
Surely, the sign should have read: “United 20 – Liverpool 18.”

Liverpool Balls: The Best ‘Constantinopool’ Crystal Palace Memes
LAST night Liverpool did their best to reenact the 2005 Champions League final when the Reds came for 3-0 down to take the game in Turkey to penalties – which they won. Three goals up against Crystal Palace, Liverpool blew it.
This was Constantinopool 2014.
Brendan Rodgers’ team can still win the title, but the winds are with Manchester City, who now need to lose one of their two remaining home matches for Liverpool to taste ultimate victory. That’s unlikely.
As one wag put it: “Sad to see Liverpool choke like Suarez on a particularly gristly bit of Ivanovic.”

Liverpool Balls: Luis Suarez Joins In With Anti-Racism Banana Eating Show
IN an incredible, worldwide show of support for Dani Alves and the exemplary, “no f**ks given” way in which he reacted to a banana-throwing incident at Villarreal (who have subsequently banned the fan responsible for life) over the weekend, scores of footballers and other personalities have posted photos on social media of them eating bananas, along with the tag-line “we are all monkeys”.
Look who joined in. It’s none other then anti-racism champion Luis Suarez:
No picture, yet, of Chelsea John Terry doing the same…
No photo, either, of Suarez eating one of these.
Liverpool V Chelsea Balls: Learning To Hate Mourinho And Love Steven Gerrard, And Vice Versa
IT’S hard work being a football writer for the dead tree press, hitting an opinion to deadline. Take the usually excellent Michael Calvin, writing in the Indy the day before Chelsea won 2-0 at Anfield and upset Liverpool’s Premier League victory parade:
Jose Mourinho, Enemy of Football. The long-standing slur might be excessive and ultimately meaningless, but the status is irresistibly melodramatic. It conjures images of intrigue, a plotter’s face captured for an instant in the beam of a spotlight, shone into shadow.

Liverpool Balls: Luis Suarez Wins PFA Football Of The Year 2014
REDEMPTION is easy if you’re brilliant at your job. Luis Suarez, once British football’s racist, diving, biting pariah has been voted the PFA Player of the Year.
He took his big cup at the awards do at the Grosvenor Hotel, London.
Suarez has been English and Welsh football’s most entertaining player (and we include the biting incident, which – let’s face it – we all loved. However, the laws of football journalism command me to say that Suarez is a role model whose nibbling of Branislav Ivanovic exposed raw Serbs to bouts of playground cannibalism and was further evidence that he was a cheating foreigner who wanted schooling in the British traditions of fair play, meat paste and honest-to-goodness over the ball leg-breaking challenges.)
Well done, Luis. Enjoy your dinner…

THE wags from a betting firm erected a stature to forcibly retired Manchester United manager David Moyes outside Liverpool’s Anfield ground.
Unless it is The Chosen One touting for spare change as a living statue?
Anyhow, United have moved on. Louis Van Gaal is now the name on fans’ lips:

Liverpool Balls: ‘Premier League Champions’ T-Shirts Go On Sale (Only Fools Buy Them)
LIVERPOOL have not won the Premier League. It looks like they will. But if 1989 and all that teaches the Reds’ fans anything, it is that nothing is won (yet). So. What true Liverpool fan would buy one of the ‘Liverpool Premier League Champions 2013/14′ T-shirts on sale in Ireland?
None.
