Brilliant Spanish Woman Owns Sun

ANGELES Duran now owns the sun. And she – like her possession – is brilliant. El Mundo reports:

“I am brilliant,” Angeles Duran told a press conference in Vigo, Galicia, “and I know the law. There is no snag to my claim, because I have backed it up legally. Anyone else could have done what I did, but they didn’t, because I am a genius. Under Spanish law, I am now the official owner of the sun, and I plan to charge people for using it.”

Earlier, Ms Duran had displayed a document issued by the notary office in Virgo, backing her claim to ownership. “It confirms that I am the sole owner of the sun, a star of the spectral type G2, located in the centre of the solar system, at an average distance of 149,600,000 kms from Earth. The idea came to me after I read about an American who had claimed ownership of the moon and Mars. I checked the law , and found that although the Outer Space Treaty of 1967 prevents goverments from staking a claim over a celestial body , that ban does not apply to private individuals.

I have already met with the spanish ministry on Industry, to discuss levying a fee on thier solar-powered photovoltaic plants, and I plan to charge goverments worldwide for use of the Sun, once I have worked out how to inforce my claim. I plan to give income to the national pension fund, and to end world hunger, and I will only keep 10% for myself. It’s time to start doing things the right way.”
