SPOT The Idiot: “I didn’t say nothing like that, I swear to God I didn’t say nothing like that; that’s why they didn’t find no guns on me. Man I play like that all the time, I didn’t think she would take it seriously.”
So says Keithan Manuel, 18, of his appearance in the Dallas police headquarters. Manuel approached the desk and told the officer on duty that he was carrying a gun under a white towel spread over his hands. Manuel asks the officer to hand over all the cash in the station.
Says Police Chief Victor Kemp:
“He said he’d like to check on a warrant, but it was pretty obvious it was a situation … he gave a different name and after a few moments of maybe playing it off he said ‘you do know I have a gun’. At that point he seemed to be very serious,”

Boy falls through pavement in China – video
WHEN a 2-year-old boy in China got his leg caught in a gap in the pavement, the camera crews zoomed in. We’ve already seen a grown woman falling through a Chinese pavement. Now we see if a small child can be snared by the cannibal clowns that dwell below China’s streets. He can’t. He gets stuck. But his problems are not yet over because the man from ITN news has a voiceover to produce. China is not versed in the “where there’s blame there’s a claim” culture, and the lad is said to be “embarrassing” and suffering from “indignity”. We are invited to wonder about the “psychological scars”.

Welsh penguin thieves explain all
RHYS Jones and Keri Mules stole a penguin named Dirk from Sea World, Australia. They were both fined. And Jones has lost work. As he says:
“People look at us a bit different. We were upstanding and had a really good reputation and we tried hard to keep the whole thing under wraps but the media completely exposed us – it’s just been hectic.”
Adding:
“I can remember swimming with the dolphins and then I woke up that morning, grabbed my wallet, went to get changed, opened my cupboard and there was a bloody penguin in my cupboard – in my walk-in wardrobe.”
Changing the cupboard to a walk-in-wardrobe makes the story better, doesn’t it?

In Photos: The Zombie Walk across Charles Bridge in Prague
IN photos: The Zombie Walk oss the Charles Bridge in Prague, Czech Republic… Prague has changed massively in the past two decades. When I went to see family who’d stayed – we were returning even older family members who’d escaped – the food was gloop and massive sausage, beer and cigarettes. I tell you this because these Zombies were pretty much how we looked as we walked about Prague looking for a decent feed. If we’d have had little pot bellies, we’d have blended in…

The super moon in fantastic photos
DID you see the super moon, the brightest full moon of the year? The moon’s eliptical orbit means that at times it is closer to the Earth. The moon is, on average, 237,000 miles from earth. Tonight that gap is 221,802 miles. Did you see it?
(It’s all an optical illusion, of course. The real moon is in Hollywood studio and is used for propaganda purposes.)

Plymouth drink-driver had gin, tonic and slices of lemon in car
“SHE ran out of alcohol and went out to the supermarket to purchase some more,” Bill LaHive, representing Janice Hawke, tells Plymouth magistrates, and describes his client calling the incident “crazy”.
Hawke had asked a man to help start her car. He thought she’d been drinking and called the police. They arrived and found in her car a bottle of gin, tonic water and a glass containing slices of lemon. (The weather was not cold and there was no ice on the road. Traditionalists may argue that the Plymouth gin kit was incomplete.)
Mrs Hawke’s breath was tested. She failed.
This Is Plymouth adds:
Her solicitor said Hawke had been able to combine her work at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust with binge drinking, but she now accepted she had a problem.
