Comic Relief Does The Celebrity Cull: Barlow Down, Cole, Cotton And GMTV Press On
DAY one on the celebrity Celebrity Relief (surely, Comic Relief? – Ed) Mount Kilimanjaro climb.
Gary Barlow, the substantial Take That frontman, is down. He has, as the Mirror observes,” broken down “in agony”.
While Barlow screams, “Go on, leave me!”, and his agent negotiates a twelve-part Living TV special about his suffering, the rest go on.
The Celebrity Cull is a sign that the recession is beginning to bite. Needs must. Dancing On Ice started the cull, accounting for Suzanne Shaw, a GMTV nodding head, Linda Lusardi and Roxanne Pallet.
Now Comic Relief takes up the cosh.
Gazza, we are told, “refuses to give up. Gary is in “spasm”. Cheryl Cole, Kimberly Walsh, Fern Cotton, Ben Shephard, Denise Van Outen, Ronan Keating, Alesha Dixon and Chris Moyles press on.
Into the mists they climb. Going. Gone.
And so the EU Celebrity Mountain is slowly reduced in size. But it might not be enough. Look out for:
